Spidey vs. The Crusader By Zach Oldenburg Synopsis: While on business for Wayne Enterprises, Bruce “BatMan” Wayne travels to New York and enjoys himself whiles away from work, on a much needed little getaway. Everything’s going perfect till the Daily Bugles major headline is “Spider-Man Murders Business Man”, obviously not true, but still Wayne suits up and soars through the air, keeping Spidey on his toes. We start off in the back alley, the camera slowly pans down, going through smoke; credits appear at the bottom, name by name. After the credits are done we move in on a greasy, grimy door, its swoops open as two thugs run out with a load of money. We now show A business man waiting in Wayne Manor, checking his watch. Man: (Talking to Himself) Come on, Bruce. I don’t have all night. We now go back to the thugs; one gets in the front seat and starts it up. The other turns around to pick up a dropped bag of cash. Thug 1 in Front: Come one! Hurry it up! The Thug in front bends down for a sec and through back window you see Batman swoop down and take the man. Thug 1: (As he Gets up and Looks) Dex? Dex?! Stop fooling ‘round and get in her!.... Dex? He looks out the window and then looks forward. ….swoooooppp…. Smash! The Thug jumps out of the car to see his partner (Dex) lying on the van. The Thug pulls a gun out and walks to the back, walking slowly to the swinging backseat door (left open from before). Its creeks. He approaches it and sees a note. Thug: (Picks it up and Reads it) The City needs this money. Better get a job, Oh, by the way. Duck? …-With Love, Batman! Over his shoulder Batman swoops down and into the camera. BLACK. Fade in. New York City. Busy streets, loud people. Peter Parker streams around the corner on his bike. Peter (Aka Spidey): Im Late! ‘Scuse me, Guys. Coming through! He looks back at a man yelling at him and spins around and looks forward just enough to notice a kid throwing down a stake of New York Times. He rams into them and skids head first. He rolls up and grabs the paper. Peter: (Reading it to Himself) hmmm… Gotham City Mogul makes business trip to New York. Wow. Another business man, he’ll fit right in. Pfft. Peter rides out into the street and speeds past a limo. The Limo driver honks. Man in Back (Bruce Wayne): Is everything alright up there, William? William (Driver): … Yes, yes, everything’s alright, Mr. Wayne. The Limo pulls into a parking garage and Bruce gets out. He walks into the elevator that takes him up into the building. Man in Elevator: What floor? Bruce: (Pause) Sorry, 4th floor, Please. Man: Sure. (Pause) Hey, you’re that Gotham guy, ain’t you? Bruce: Yes, Bruce Wayne. Im here because there talking about putting a Wayne Enterprise up here. Man: Snazzy! The floor goes up and Bruce gets out saying good day to the man in the elevator. He turns around to go to the meeting room and bumps into Peter Parker. Bruce: Whoa there, Kid, Im sorry. Peter: No its ok, im not one of your partners, Im just dropping off the Daily Bugles. I don’t like the headline, but here, take one. Bruce takes one and walks on into the room. Business Inside: Brucey, old chap, how ya been!? Bruce: Grey Hanson! Haven’t seen you in a long time! Im ok. Bruce sits down and drinks his coffee. Grey: Read the paper, relax, we got time, Bruce. You always look tense. Bruce: Good idea. Bruce unfolds the paper and notices the headline: Spider-Man Murders Business Man. Bruce: Um, Grey, who is this, Spider Man? Grey: Oh, don’t know exactly, but by the headline, he doesn’t look good. Zoomed in on Bruces face. Bruce: (Mumbling to Himself) I can take care of that. Grey: Pardon? Bruce: What? Oh, nothing, nothing. We flash to night time. Bruce is taking a stroll down the side walk and see’s Spider-Man soar through the air. Noticing this, He runs in the alley. Were now in the air, watching Spidey soar. Spider-Man (Peter): Why does the world hate me? I Cant a Scary bug get some alone time, jeez. He lands on a rooftop, only to get a bat hook in his back. He tumbles to the ground. Batman: (Appearing out of the Shadows) Why Murder? Batman steps closer to the shocked Spidey. Spider-Man backs up and falls backwards. Batman: No! Spider-Man swoops through the air and before he hits the ground its… Black. Spider-Man awakes in his costume, in the garbage can. He gets up and stumbles out. Spider-Man: (Talking to Himself) sure, throw me in the trash like a dead bug, literally. Next Day: Bruce Wayne jogs down the side walk, enjoying the silent scenery. Its 5 in the morning by the way, you can tell because there’s a big clock tower in the background. He jogs further and into the hotel door, walks into the elevator, and pressed 8. He waits a bit and the door opens. Peter Parker walks in with Mary Jane. Bruce: Hey, Bugle kid! Peter: How are you doing? Oh, my names Peter. Bruce: Im good, Peter. Im… Peter: (Interrupting) Bruce Wayne. I know you. This is Mary Jane. We’re here to see an old friend. Bruce: That’s lovely. (Stops on his floor, gets out) We’ll nice to meet you, Mary; I’ll probably talk to you again. (Pats Peter on his back) Peter: (Ouch) Bruce: What’s wrong, Peter? Peter: Um.. Nothing, I just (Grunts a bit) pulled a muscle at the gym. Mary: Gym? I didn’t know you worked out? The door closes before Bruce can react. Bruce: (Talking to Himself) Oh dear. That was Spider-Man… We now see Peter and Mary step into there friends room. Mary: Julie? Julie: (An Old Friend in the Car with her in the Original) Mary! And you brought Peter. You guys look sweet together. (Hugs them) I’ll make some tea. Be right back. Mary: Who was that guy, Pete? Peter: Um… I don’t know really. Mary: Have you talked before? Peter: (Dazing into the distance) I think we’ve… Fought before…. I mean in a boxing match. I use to box a while ago. Mary: Oh, well, you learn new things each day. (Walks to help Julie) Peter: (Talking to Himself) I don’t believe it… Nighttime: Peter in his Spidey suit walks out on the Hotel roof, pondering. He takes his mask off and looks at the busy street. He realizes a robbing occurring. Spiderman: Augh. (Pause, Ponders) Let Batman get this one… He walks around and goes back downstairs, slowly. He stops abruptly. A Flashback plays from Spiderman when Uncle Ben was killed. A tear welds up in his eye and he runs in slow motion and glides off the roof, swooping through the air and onto the ground. He breaks through the roof window and just misses the thugs. He looks around, no damage. Spidey: Hmm. He looks around and notices a puddle of blood, he follows it, it leads to a man. Grey Hanson as a matter of fact. Spiderman kneels down and holds his hand. Spiderman: No. No you cant die on me. He looks around and picks up the gun and grasps it. He tries to stop the blood flow but its too late. He dies. Spiderman gets up, slowly, and turns around, and slowly drops the gun. He looks up. Batman. At the door. Batman runs towards him and barrels him through the front window and onto the street. Spidey’s arm is tore up and he’s coughing some blood. Batman kicks him and falls to the ground, balling. Batman: (Saddened, A Break down) Why?!! Why, God! Why!... (Lies down) Why…. Spidey gets close to Batman. Spiderman: (Softly) It’s ok. (Pause) Oh my god. (Batman says, What?) I could’ve saved him… Not again. Batman sucks it up and helps the fringed Spiderman up, bleeding, a lot. Batman: There’s better things to thing about. Spideman: Um... Batman… Do you… Do you smell that? Batman looks down the sidewalk and tackles Spiderman into the dark alley and covers him up. Spidey: Ugghh… What was that for!? Batman: Hush! An explosive blows up and a green smoke covers the road. People are passing out everywhere. Spiderman: What is that? Batman: Listen. (Faint Chuckle in the Background) It’s the… Joker.
