Additionally, a growing number of studies are identifying considerable overlap between common and rare human diseases, and further refining our understanding of their biology and development. Now, we want to highlight the importance of this field by publishing a special issue with an emphasis on the biology of common and rare human diseases, which will be guest edited by Daniel MacArthur and Mark McCarthy.
