Dear Parents and Students, Last Wednesday four of our students ~ Charli Butcher, Johanna Kamer, Nicholas Carter and Jai Reed ~ competed in the district finals of the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking competition. This involved schools from Pambula to Batemans Bay and the quality of speeches was very high. All four of our speakers performed admirably, with Charli and Nicholas winning ‘Highly Commended’ runner-up awards in their sections. Well done!! Today you will receive a written report on your child’s progress during the first half of the year. These reports have taken a great deal of time to compile and I thank the teachers for their efforts to provide an accurate snapshot of how your child is progressing. Please take the time to read the report carefully with your child, praise their strengths and think of how you can support them in any areas of difficulty. If you would like to discuss the report or see your child’s teacher, there will be an opportunity for Parent-Teacher interviews next Tuesday, June 28th. Please complete the note attached to this week’s newsletter and return by the end of this week. This Friday the Primary Class will be hosting our Whole School Assembly. They have been rehearsing a play called ‘Ali Baba and the Forty Bikies’ and are looking forward to performing. At this Assembly we will also be acknowledging excellent attendance during Term Two and our Year Four students will receive their long awaited ‘Pen Licences’. Certainly, this is an Assembly not to be missed! It will start at 1.00pm. Following the Assembly, there will be a P&C Meeting. A proposed excursion next week to The Botanical Gardens near Batemans Bay has been postponed until next term due to the busy schedule of the final week of term, which finishes on Friday, July 1st. Regards John Carter, Principal INFANTS have been writing narratives using their imagination. Below are some samples of their work. Layla, Year 1 The Little Mouse. One day a mouse was walking in a wood. When he saw a rabbit who was hungry! He wanted food! So the mouse hid. But the rabbit found the mouse cos he smelt the mouse out and then there was trouble. They started a fight and just as the mouse was about to get killed a boy picked the mouse up and took him home. The mouse lived happily ever after. The end. Yurruanna, Kinder One very long, long night a wombat came and smelt some food. It was yum and another long night a mouse came out and smelt some food. Jamie, Year 1 The boulder was rolling towards the town. The boulder cashed into another boulder. The monkey jumped up and down. Jarrah, Year 2 Once upon a time there lived an ant and he said, “I better go down this steep tree”. When he was half way down he fell. Then he realised he could fly. Then some flies came to attack him. Then all the ants fought the flies. It was easy for the ants cos they had some mud. They threw it at the flies and won. Billy, Year 2 Once upon a time I saw some tiny teeth. Then a gorilla. It was tiny too. He saw a fridge. But it was closed. Then the tiny teeth came along. They helped the gorilla. They pulled and pulled and pulled and it opened. Then there was heaps of food and they ate it all. Chase, Kinder I went on the surf board and another surf board was here with me and it was my friend. Annabel, Kinder The giraffe found a cup cake and it had cherries on it. Archie, Kinder There were 4 wombats and one lived near the road and one didn’t live near the road. One was a tiny bit younger than the one that was near the road. Thomas, Kinder One wombat was walking down the path. Then he smelt some food he liked and another wombat came and smelt the food. One long, long pole and a flag was on top of it. Angela, Kinder Once there was a whale that really wanted to have some fish and that night he was frightened because there was a really big hammer head shark. Jack, Kinder There was a python that wanted to eat the rainbow. Then mice went in the maze and the maze was a rainbow. At the end of the rainbow they found a bit of cake. Coupar, Year 2 Once I went into Africa. I saw a snake. It was a King Cobra. It was the most venomous snake in the world. I picked up the snake. It bit me on the nose. I went to hospital and I died in hospital. Elias, Kinder Once there was a little pig that liked to roll in the mud and it didn’t know it was poo. Then he walked beside the beach.
