Effects of Drugs on the Nervous System
The objectives of this lesson are to
1. research how certain drugs affect the work of certain neurotransmitters
2. create an informative poster about the drug
You will visit the “mouse party” at the University of Utah’s Learn Genetics website.

1. Complete the mouse party worksheet
2. Choose one of the drugs featured in mouse party and design a poster (letter size 8.5 X 11) in
publisher or word to inform other students about the effects of that drug on the brain. You
should include in your poster:
a. the information from your worksheet
i. Neurotransmitter involved
ii. How the drug disrupts the neurotransmitter
b. The normal function of the neurotransmitter
c. Illustrations and/or pictures
3. These will be hung outside the classroom
