Introduction/ Warm up Pass round a bag filled with flashcards of food/classroom objects. Play French music, when the music stops child holding bag takes out a picture and says “Dans le sac il y a…une pomme”etc. (In the bag there is..) Revisit the activity phrases from last week. Introduce miming actions for each flashcard. Say the word and do the action, guess the word from the action etc Get each child to choose one of the activities that they like and draw it on a piece of paper and write the phrase e.g .“j’aime le football”. Teacher holds a flash card and says “Moi, j’aime la natation. Tu aimes la natation, Marie?” Child responds ‘Oui, j’aime la natation’ if her picture is the same. ‘Non, je n’aime pas la natation’ if different. Children circulate the room asking and answering questions in the same way. Play activity as a game. Play the French music, children circulate, when music stops they ask the nearest child. Literacy: Dictionary skills – look up French words (and German/Spanish etc.) for other sports and pastimes and compare them to English.
