Ir.Azman Kassim is a Registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia
and graduated in Civil Engineering form the University of Glasgow in 1975 and Master of
Science in Civil Engineering (Construction) from Universiti Teknologi Mara in 2010. He is a
Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia.
He served the Jabatan Kerja Raya (Public Works Department) Malaysia in various capacities
rising from Assistant Resident Engineer, District Engineer, Senior Executive Engineer, Assistant
Director and finally appointed the State Director of JKR Perlis before going to private practice as
a Consultant Engineer.
He was also the Deputy General Manager (Operations) of the Johore State Economic
Development Corporation (now known as Johore Corporation) where he was responsible for the
overall management of all the technical departments involved in planning, design, development
implementation, maintenance and sales of real property and industrial estates and also the project
management consultant to the Johore State Religious Department to develop the state religious
complex and schools all over the state of Johore. Ir. Azman Kassim was also made technical
adviser to the construction developments undertaken by the subsidiary companies of the
Corporation which includes workshops, offices, factories, bridges, plantation housing and palm
oil mill. Major projects include Plaza Kotaraya, Puteri Pan Pacific Hotel, Kompleks Islam Johor,
Pasir Gudang Industrial Development.
He later joined Kumpulan Guthrie Berhad as Engineering Manager and moved to Guthrie
Property Holding Berhad as Project Manager directly involved in the setting up of the Property
Division of Kumpulan Guthrie Berhad when the company embarked on its diversification scheme
in 1990 where among others, he was involved in the initial planning of Bukit Jelutong Residential
and Industrial Development and the planning, development and construction of Harvard Golf
Course at Gurun (Sungai Petani) Kedah.
He then moved to Technology Resources Properties Sdn Bhd as the General Manager where he
was responsible for the overall management of the property development, project management,
facilities management and construction activities of the company with varied portfolios as
property developer, project manager and design & build contractor. Projects undertaken include
MAS Facility & Administration Complex KLIA, Private Aviation Hangar at Subang Airport,
Menara TR, The ZON All Suites Apartment Hotel Jalan Ampang, MHS HQ at Jalan Kemajuan
PJ and Teluk Rubiah Golf Resort Manjung, Perak.
Ir. Azman then joined Eastbourne Corporation Berhad, a PKK Class ‘A’ and CIDB Grade G7
construction contractor as Project Director responsible for all the projects undertaken by the
company in Peninsular Malaysia until he retired in October 2005. Among major projects
undertaken were Multimedia University Cyberjaya, Seremban Specialist Hospital, Puteri
Specialist Hospital Johore Bahru and Johore Specialist Hospital Johore Bahru.
Currently Ir. Azman is a Senior Consultant with KLIA Consulting Services, a Project
Management Consultant Government Linked Company (GLC). He is the Project Manager for the
New Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) KLIA Project involving the planning and construction
of a new passenger terminal building for 25million passenger per annum (MPPA), 2750 m
runway inclusive of lightings and signal system, parallel and cross taxiways, aircraft parking
apron, control tower, earthworks, ground treatment works, electricity and water supply
infrastructures, sewerage treatment system, road networks, drainage, airside fire and rescue
services building, other ancilliary buildings, etc. He was also the Senior Construction Manager
and Head of Construction in charge of Tampin-Gemas sector of the new 160 kph SerembanGemas Electrified Double Track Railway line involving 98km of new electrified double railway
tracks consisting of 35 river bridges, 13 Road over Bridges (ROB), 6 Road under Bridges (RUB),
Earthworks, 7 Vehicular Box Culverts, Drainage Box Culverts and 6 new Station Buildings and
Yards.
He also lectures in the field of Construction Project Management and currently a Penal Lecturer
and Course Facilitator for IKRAM Training and Infrastructure Development Institute (iTiDi)
Bangi courses conducted for the International Road and Building Engineers Programme. He is a
registered Trainer commissioned by the Construction Industry Development Board of Malaysia
(CIDB) in association with the National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health Malaysia
(NIOSH) to conduct the Safety & Health Induction Course for Construction Workers. He also
lectured on part time basis on ‘Traffic Engineering’ for final Semester Bachelor of Civil
Engineering at Mara Institute of Technology (now known as UiTM) in 1980 and at Polytechnic
Sultan Ahmad Shah Kuantan on ‘Construction’ and ‘ Highway Engineering’ subjects in 1977.
In summary, Ir. Azman Kassim has vast experience in both the Public and Private sectors after
having gone through the full cycle of the construction industry for over 38 years in the capacity of
Superintending Officer (S.O), Client’s Representative, Property Developer, Engineering
Consultant, Project Manager, Construction Contractor and Lecturer.
