http://www.economist.com/business/ The economist.com web site is a great source for
international economic and business articles and news for teachers and students. The
URL for the business section is
http://www.yourmoney.cba.ca This website challenges students to investigate their
attitudes toward money and their personal financial goals. In particular the sections on
knowing yourself and setting your goals ask questions that serve as important foundations
for all students with business interests. Other key areas include budgeting, investing and
planning.

The Statistics Canada website (educational learning resources) provides a wealth of data
and statistics that are available to educators. Through the E-Stat and CANSIM databases,
a teacher can teach students how to search and access various statistics. Most
importantly, data can be imported into a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel,
and integrated using numerous Microsoft Applications.

www.jegswork.com and go to Computer Literacy 101
If you teach BTT or TIK here is a great website for teaching the introductory computer
unit. As a teacher if you register with them they will send you the answer key to all the

In courses such as marketing (BMX3EE), BBI2OE, and even BTT1OE I've introduced
business plans and have found this site to be very useful
http://www.sedar.com/homepage_en.htm
In accounting (BAF3ME and BAT4ME) I've used this website to get company data and
have found it very useful.
http://www.cbsc.org/ontario/english/index.cfm
I've also found this website good for all business courses
http://www.marketingterms.com/dictionary/
I've asked my marketing class (BMX3EE) to go to this site and find three interesting
terms, then present these terms to the class. I would review their findings first, to avoid
repetition.

This is a web site that Visa Canada has created called Choices & Decisions: Taking
Charge of Your Financial Life. Up to last year, you could order this binder that provided
you will a complete teachers guide for teaching personal finance. It came with teaching
notes, student activities, overheads, black line masters and CDs with games/programs for
the students to try like how to save a million, and what does it really cost you? It covers
all the expectations in the personal finance unit of Introduction to Business. Visa now
offers this all on-line so you don’t have to wait for the delivery of the 3 inch binder.
There are three sections, Teacher, Student and Consumer. It offers these quizzes and
games that each student could do on-line and get immediate feedback and understanding.
Who would be better than a credit card company to teach students about credit cards?
There is so much material, you will never need to develop a lesson plan in this area again.
It starts with making money, understanding pay stubs, how to budget, living on your own,
buying cars and homes, credit ratings, credit cards plus it lists other web sites and
resources you can go to as well. What I like about this site and information is it is in
plain English language that anybody could understand. It’s simplified so that the
essential students should be able to gasp the material without too much effort.
