DVRHS All Sports Booster Club Minutes June 10, 2013 2012-2013 Officers: Janet Comerford – President Beth Slusser – Vice President (absent) Michele Baran – Treasurer Peggy Mikulicz – Recording Secretary Cathy Ferraro – Corresponding Secretary Chairpersons: Janet Comerford – Spirit Items Call to Order – Janet Comerford called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm and initiated the Flag Salute. Secretary’s Report – Peggy Mikulicz presented the May Secretary’s report. Therese Matthews moved to approve the May report and it was seconded by Cathy Ferraro. Treasurer’s Report – May report presented. Peggy Mikulicz moved to approve the May Treasurer’s Report and it was seconded by Sandy DelGreco. OLD BUSINESS Spring Sports: Softball – Sports Rep Kelly Ferrara No report Baseball – Sports Rep Pat Fiaschetti Record 9-13 We were the 14 seed in the state tournament and beat the 3 seed 6-1, and then lost 5-1 to the 6 seed. 1st team all conference players were Scott Skripko, Ryan Hann, Chris Fiaschetti. 2nd team all conference players were Reed Williams, and Chris Pilone Team Most Outstanding Defensive Player Reed Williams Team Most Outstanding Offensive Player Ryan Hann Team Most Valuable Player Scott Skripko Leadership, Commitment, and Dedication Award - Scott Skripko, Ryan Hann, Reed Williams, Chris Innocenti, Joe Egidio, Chris Pilone Girls Lacrosse – Sports Rep Liz Dougherty No report Boys Lacrosse – Sports Rep Therese Matthews The Boys Lacrosse had a great season this year; while not by the number of wins and losses but by the determination, hard work and perseverance of the players at every level. The Varsity Team had an overall record of 6 wins and 11 losses. They ended the season on May 21 with a loss to West Deptford in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA Group 1 South Division. The boys went into the quarterfinals following a stunning upset over 5th ranked Middle Township with a score of 14 - 7. Several of our players were named to the Skylands Division, Bianchi Division and NJISAA Conferences. James Harabedian, Sean Hogan and Tanner Dixon were selected for the Second Team and Andrew Cooper was selected Honorable Mention in the Skyland Division. Tanner Dixon and James Harabedian were selected on the Second Team in the Bianchi Division. Top honors went to Tanner Dixon who received an Honorable Mention for the All State NJISAA. The Junior Varsity Team completed the season with the best record of all three teams with 8 wins and 5 losses. The Freshmen also had a very respectable record of 5 wins and 4 losses. On June 7, a banquet was held in the school cafeteria for the players, coaches and families of all three teams. The coaches presented awards to players from each team which included: Varsity: Coaches Award – Greg Potempa; Most Improved Player – Tim Bill; Most Valuable Player – Dan Rose Junior Varsity: Coaches Award – Marion Macaoay; Most Improved Player – Jordan Ludwig; Most Valuable Player – Matt Nugent Freshmen: Coaches Award – Dan Panfile; Most Improved Player – David Yudin; Most Valuable Player – Ryan Romaine Golf – Sports Rep Cathy O’Rourke No Report Girls Track – Sports Rep Colleen Tomko Girls track had a great month in May. The girls as a team ended with a 1-4 record, they beat Hackettstown 5/10 Novice meet- Freshman and Sophomore (girls competing are not at Varsity level) Del Val girls brought home 6 medals 5/15 Skylands Conference tied for 13th place out of 19 teams 5/24 Sectionals Group 2- placed 11th out of 19 teams Group 2 states did not place for a team title--Sara Gardner did score 16 points for Del Val Delaware Valley’s Sara Gardner also qualified for the Meet of Champions out of Group 2, placing third in the 100 hurdles (14.87) and second in the high jump (5-4). She was tied for the fourth seed at the Meet of Champions high jump. Boys Track – Sports Rep Paul Sterbenz No Report Membership – currently 122 Del Val Spirit Wear – * Completed deliveries: T-shirts for Donna Daku (8th Grade Honors), Holland & Milford Graduate gifts * Orders in progress: Varsity Jacket orders from March (due on or about 6/13), Project Graduation tshirts, Del Val Football t-shirts *To Be Ordered: Varsity Jackets Senior athlete blankets remaining: 45 still to be picked up. Blankets given to administrators leaving Del Val: Mormile, Romanetz; Nastus Fundraising Field Enhancement Project: bricks are in; plan is to have the bricks installed before graduation. The School Board is purchasing a brick for Elizabeth Nastus. Viridian: no change NEW BUSINESS – 2013-2014 Club officers Motion made by Janet Comerford to approve the following officers for 2013-2014, seconded by Therese Matthews. President – Janet Comerford VP – Michele Baran (replacing Beth Slusser) Treasurer – position open Recording Secretary – Peggy Mikulicz Corresponding Secretary – Cathy Ferraro Senior Awards Night – Tuesday, June 13, 6:30pm Mr. Del Val Clothing Sales: Donated $40.50 to Project Graduation Purchase of t-shirts for Project Graduation: Motion made by Janet Comerford for the Booster Club to purchase t-shirts for this project graduation and all future project graduation participants; seconded by Michele Baran. Plans for September: Giveaways – t-shirts with advertisements and mini footballs Coupon Booklet Clothing items 2013-2014 Sports Representatives Summer Mailing – to go out second or third week of July Community Day for Holland & Kingwood Back to School Night A motion was made by Peggy Mikulicz to adjourn the meeting at 8:07; Michele Baran seconded the motion.
