NEWS RELEASE Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation 8100 N Hwy 81, Duncan, OK 73533, USA • Tel: 580-255-9675 • OK-Duncan.com Date: September 7, 2015 Contact: Jeannie Bowden Phone: 580-255-9675 Email: Jeannie@ok-duncan.com FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Heath Oilfield Laboratory Duncan Start-Up Company Continues to Prosper Duncan, Oklahoma – Stan Heath grew up on a farm between Marlow and Rush Springs, moving to Duncan in 1973 when he went to work for Halliburton, first in manufacturing and then cement and fracturing at the Technology Center. 39 years later, in June 2012, Heath left the Chemical Research Lab of Halliburton and used his decades of expertise to start his own business, Heath Oilfield Laboratory. Heath Oilfield Laboratory was formed because Heath and another person who had worked at Halliburton, Brad Todd, saw a need for a lab in Southwest Oklahoma to test and perform R&D on degradable refract materials. Todd formed Completion Science and contracts with Heath Oilfield Laboratory for services. Heath moved into the Duncan Center for Business Development (DCBD) because he is a first time business owner and knew help would be readily available in the incubator. Heath said, “The incubator offers a lot of help to someone who’s never had their own business and the tax break with the state for five years is also a very good deal.” Heath also met with Business Development Specialist Jackie Jacobi from Red River Technology Center to form his business plan. Nicole Punneo, DCBD Incubator Manager said, “In addition to incubators offering support, office space, and equipment, businesses who start-up in a Certified Incubator receive a five year Oklahoma business income tax abatement. This makes a huge financial impact during companies beginning years.” Heath Oilfield Laboratory tests, consults, and performs R&D on degradable refract materials. When a well is closed, refract material allows for fracturing in between spaces and the refract material can be matched to the needed temperature, how long solid, and how quickly it will degrade into a liquid to maximize output from the wells. After three years of business Heath Oilfield Laboratory will be moving with their partner company, Completion Science, into one the lab building being built by the Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation (DAEDF) in Duncan’s North Industrial Park. Heath will contract with Completion Science as he’s done since formation of his company and act as the lab manager in the new facility. Lyle Roggow, President of the Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation said, “Stan utilized the services available from the DCBD, Red River Technology Center, and others within our network and is self-sufficient enough to move into a new space. Heath Oilfield Laboratory is what success looks like! About the Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation In 1993, the citizens and businesses of Duncan created the Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation (DAEDF) to promote the development of existing businesses, attract new businesses, and diversify Duncan's economic base. By simultaneously building up the local infrastructure, establishing relationships throughout the community and state, and ensuring that there is a well-trained and vital workforce, DAEDF created an attractive business climate. DAEDF has attracted businesses that provide competitive wages and make capital investments in the community, which means they are more likely to remain in the area as longterm employers. ###
