Job Description: This position plays a key role in the advanced equipment management oversight for the agency. The position works under the direction of the Equipment Services Administrator and manages a team of 4-6 people. This position oversees the agency’s fleet operations and is responsible for the administration of the Equipment Services Fleet Management Group, the management of the ADOT mobile fleet including the administration of an annual ADOT mobile fleet equipment replacement budget (estimated to be $17-22M annually) and an ADOT/ Federal Transit Authority (FTA) acquisition program approaching $5M annually. Management of a statewide fleet consisting of approximately 4,200 pieces of first responder emergency vehicles, specialized light fleet, specialized road maintenance and construction equipment, heavy duty on-road/off-road equipment having a replacement value in excess of $225M. This position performs business development and liaison duties in the promotion and marketing of fleet equipment repair services and products. Assists in developing policies, administers administrative procedures and operational oversight for all Fleet management functions pertaining to the processing of vehicle and equipment requests, all acquisition/procurement activities, all post delivery vehicle and equipment inspection, up-fitting and out-fitting, assignment, utilization, replacement and disposal of all ADOT vehicles and equipment. The position evaluates vehicle and equipment requirements and the development of complex technical equipment specifications, contracts, and engineered drawings. Prepares equipment budgets and coordinates agency funded and commercially funded expenditures with agency Procurement and Budget Office staff. Minimum 5 years automotive, heavy truck, trailer and construction equipment related experience in transportation/fleet maintenance, engineering, manufacturing, design, and specification development.
