Taipei is located in northern Taiwan, which is known for its PC industry and Chinese culture. PURPOSE The International Symposium on Multimedia Information Processing (ISMIP'99) is a major annual forum for scientists, engineers, and practitioners throughout the world to provide those involved in theory, algorithms, architecture, implementation, and/or system integration of multimedia processing to meet and present important new work at an international forum. The 1999 meeting will be held at Taipei, TAIWAN and will include keynote addresses, contributed papers, tutorials, workshops and exhibition. SCOPE The main focus of ISMIP '99 will be multimedia information processing viewed from the three perspectives of architecture and networking, software systems, and algorithms and applications. The perspectives can be based on signal/image processing, circuits and systems, communication, computer systems, neural networks and other emerging technologies.
