LOCATION
ISMIP '99 will be held at National Taiwan University of Science & Technology, Taipei,
one of famous metropolises in Asia. Taipei is located in northern Taiwan, which is
known for its PC industry and Chinese culture.
PURPOSE
The International Symposium on Multimedia Information Processing (ISMIP'99) is a
major annual forum for scientists, engineers, and practitioners throughout the world to
provide those involved in theory, algorithms, architecture, implementation, and/or
system integration of multimedia processing to meet and present important new work at
an international forum. The 1999 meeting will be held at Taipei, TAIWAN and will
include keynote addresses, contributed papers, tutorials, workshops and exhibition.
SCOPE
The main focus of ISMIP '99 will be multimedia information processing viewed from
the three perspectives of architecture and networking, software systems, and algorithms
and applications. The perspectives can be based on signal/image processing, circuits
and systems, communication, computer systems, neural networks and other emerging
technologies. Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

PAPER SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Papers reporting original and unpublished research results are solicited. Papers will be
selected based on their originality, timeliness, significance, relevance, and clarity of
presentation. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Please
send four copies of a manuscript abstract to the program committee chair by August 1,
1999:

A manuscript abstract should not exceed 3 pages including tables and figures (similar to
the requirement of major IEEE conferences). In the cover letter, please indicate the
author for correspondence, and the following information for all authors: his/her
affiliation, complete postal address, phone and fax numbers, and email address (make
sure the email address is current and working). All questions regarding paper
submissions should be directed to Dr. Chang.
IMPORTANT DATES

Author notification: October 1, 1999
Camera-ready manuscripts and pre-registration: November 1, 1999
