Job Description
A course developer assists the instructional designer with tasks associated with the design and
development of online instructional materials and faculty training related to online course creation
and teaching. The course developer will office at the Round Rock campus, but be expected to
come to the San Marcos campus for training or meetings as needed.
Job Duties
 Assist with the design and development of online instructional materials, including:
 Draft learning objectives
 Document design decisions and progress against deadlines
 Review and format content documents
 Draft site design documents based on approved planning matrices
 Build course sites in TRACS (LMS) as per the site design document
 Conduct quality assurance reviews
 Assist with the transcription of audio/visual materials
 Research educational technologies
 Document field test results
 Assist with faculty training
 Assist with the maintenance of online courses, including documenting agreed-upon
revisions, making revisions, tracking progress against deadlines, and maintaining the
course maintenance master schedule
Required Qualifications
 Experience designing and developing online instructional materials
 Editing and formatting skills
 Efficient and effective verbal and written communication skills
 Excellent interpersonal skills
 Ability to work effectively with clients and in a team environment
 Ability to work productively on multiple projects simultaneously
 Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Qualifications
 Master’s degree in Education or equivalent
 At least 2 years of online course development experience
 Proficiency with course management systems, such as Sakai or Blackboard
 Proficiency with multimedia production tools
 Familiarity with HTML coding
