No1 holds the cushion and stands with No 2 on his left and No 3 on his right in front of the WM chair No1 We now present to you the Working Tools of an Entered Apprentice Freemason. They are No 2 picks it up and says the 24 inch gauge No 3 picks it up and says the common gavel No 1 picks it up and says and the chisel No 2 The 24 inch gauge is to measure our work No 3 the common gavel to knock off all superfluous knobs and excresences No1 and the chisel to further smooth and prepare the stone and render it fit for the hands of the more expert workmen.But as we are not operative masons but rather Free and Accepted or Speculative we apply these tools to our morals.
