Amended Notice of Race
Rhodes 19 Fleet #36 and the Sandy Bay Yacht Club invite Rhodes 19 sailors to the 2011 Rhodes 19 East Coast
Championships to be sailed on the waters of the North Atlantic Ocean adjacent to Rockport,
Massachusetts.
1.
ORGANIZING AUTHORITY AND VENUE
1.1. The organizing authority for this regatta will be the Rhodes 19 Fleet 36 in Rockport Massachusetts
and the Sandy Bay Yacht Club in collaboration with the Rhodes 19 Class Association.
1.2. Racing will take place on Sandy Bay, Ipswich Bay or Massachusetts Bay off Rockport,
Massachusetts.
2. RULES
2.1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. Official Sailing
Instructions will be available at registration. Exceptions to the rules including any in the Notice of
Race will be presented in the Sailing Instructions.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.2. The regatta is open to all keelboats and helmsmen of the Rhodes 19 class that meet the requirements
defined in the class rules. Pending the issuing of Rhodes 19 Class Measurement Certificates (RB
15.00) the requirement for measurement certificates will be waived for this event. Eligible boats may
enter by filling out the Entry Form, available here and sending it with the requisite fee to:

2.3. The entry fee is $225 per boat prior to May 27, 2011. A late fee of $50 will be charged for entries
received after this date. Non-crew members may participate in all social activities for an additional
$50 per person. Prices include all racing and SBYC fees, a BBQ dinner Saturday evening, after-race
socials, and liquid refreshments.
3. SCHEDULE
3.1. On-site registration for the regatta will be available Thursday June 23 from 1300 hours to 1800 hours
and Friday June 24 2011 from 0900hours to 1100 hours. Each boat’s representative must complete
the registration by checking in at the registration desk and picking up a registration packet during
these times. Harbor start is one hour before the first Warning Signal. Multiple races are scheduled
on each Racing Day. SBYC launch hours are 0800 – 2000.

4. SCORING
4.1. Racing rule A2 will be observed but modified to exclude a boat's worst score if five or more races are
sailed.
4.2. Racing Rule A8.1 will be modified to include all scores when breaking ties, or Racing Rule A8.2 will
be used to break the tie.

5. PRIZES
5.1. Prizes will be awarded for regatta finishes first through third.
6. HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS
6.1. All competitors shall follow any instructions given by the dockmaster and Club Manager of the
Sandy Bay Yacht Club regarding moorings and haul-outs.
6.2. The Sandy Bay Yacht Club has a hoist for launching and hauling boats. Operation of the hoist is by
authorized personnel only. There is no tide window for launching or hauling boats.
6.3. No haul-outs will be permitted once launched until after the finish of the final race of the
regatta. Only the Protest Committee may grant exceptions to this rule, in writing, in order for a
boat to undertake repairs.
7. SBYC policy on boat cleaning, washing and repairs on club premises.
7.1. Pressure washing, use of non-biodegradable soaps, cleaning solvents and sanding of boats on SBYC
property is prohibited. Washing of boat bottoms is limited to brush, sponge and hose rinse in
designated wash water collection area. Bottom washing of painted boat bottoms in the water
adjacent to SBYC float or docks is not allowed.
8. LODGING
8.1. Housing may be available on a first-come first-served basis. Contact Ellen Lidington for more
information. There are a number of Inns and motels in Rockport as well; see here.
9. ADVERTISING
9.1. Advertising will be limited to ISAF category A.
10. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
10.1. Competitors participate in the races entirely at their own risk. See RRS rule 4, Decision to Race.
10.2.The Organizing Authority, its employees, and its volunteers will not accept any liability for material
damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the
regatta.
