1. PSAT/NMSQT Saturday, October 19, 2013 (Approx. 7:45-11:15)
WHAT IS THE PSAT?
 Measures critical reading, math problem-solving, and writing skills that are important for
success in college
WHY TAKE THE PSAT?
 Get feedback on critical academic skills
 Practice for the SAT
 Enter National Merit Scholarship competition (only for 11th graders)
 Access to career and college planning services online
WHAT IS THE TEST FEE?
 $20; check payable to EHS or cash; paid in the counseling center BY Friday, October 11.
First come, first served. Students will receive a practice booklet at the time of
registration.
 Late registrations available October 14-18 for $25 as long as tests remain.
2. ASVAB Thursday, October 24, 2013 (Approx. 9:00 am –noon)
WHAT IS THE ASVAB?
 Multi-aptitude test covering General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge,
Paragraph Comprehension, Mathematics Knowledge, Electronics Information, Auto and
Shop Information, and Mechanical Comprehension
WHY TAKE THE ASVAB?
 Used as career exploration test
 Necessary if interested in military
WHAT IS THE TEST FEE?
 Free; however you must sign up in the counseling center BY Friday, October 11.
3. ACT Saturday, April 12, 2014; Deadline to register is March 7, 2014

WHAT IS THE ACT?
 Most widely accepted college entrance exam taken by over 80% of EHS seniors
 Tests English, Math, Reading, and Science with items typically learned through junior
curriculum
 ACT is offered 6 times per year; most common for juniors to test in April
WHY TAKE THE ACT?
 Necessary for entrance to college
 Scholarship opportunities
WHAT IS THE TEST FEE?
 $36.50-No Writing or $52.50-Writing
 Price increases with late registration fee
