Hi Tech Jobs for Engineers & Technicians on Internet of Things (IoT) Introduction: The Internet of Things has started the technical revolution all over the consumer world. At home, all kind of gargets like watch, clock, TV, Radio, Telephone, Cell-phone, Kitchen Appliances, Video Surveillance camera, PC, Laptop, and Tablet will all communicate with each other. As everyone can see, the wireless network will have to be upgraded: 1. From 802.11b & 802.11g to 802.11n & AC. 2. New type of wireless router with extensive logging will be needed. 3. Security concern will require all garget to check its firmware at least once a day. 4. Wireless router itself must be very secure because it is handling all communication between gadgets with internet. With Chinese Hackers (in mainland China and hiding in North America) spying on North American, current consumer wireless router security is totally inadequate. More and more North American and business will demand much more secure and still affordable wireless router. 5. North Americans who start their home business, they will be surprise to know that there almost all consumer grade wireless router are broken by the Chinese Hackers. Since a consumer wireless router can be easily hacked, any network printer become the best target for the Chinese Hackers since once the network printer is hacker, all the PCs, which trusted the network printer will become defenseless against spying malware even the PCs have security software. For the North American Engineers: 1. The demand of much better secure and much more intelligent routers that is built in North America is plainly understood. Of course, such router must be also affordable. Hi-Tech company can offer 3-4 year software subscription update to patch up security holes and at the same time gain the confidence of the customer. Such router will be used by: a. Small Business. b. Knowledgeable Hi-Tech Consumers. c. Library and many government facilities. 2. The demand of diagnostic software that has multiple level of complexity are from: a. Novice Consumers – level 1. b. Knowledgeable Hi-Tech Consumers – level 2. c. Technicians and Engineers – level 3. For the North American technicians: The complexities of the audit, log, security, performance issues of the wireless gadgets require technicians to handle and solve problems in the consumer home. Remember that in North America, there are millions and millions of Hi-Tech home, and many of them require services on their wireless network. Thus we needed a huge number of technicians to service them. If our colleges start to create a special 6 month to one year program to train technicians for Hi-Tech home, we can create thousands of good paying jobs ($15/hr) for North America. I hope that 6 month to one year training is not too long for the presently underemployed or unemployed North Americans. A lot of geeks can also help out to train their friends and interested people. Because of the ethnicity of North America: 1. North America European can start their companies and serve any customers. 2. North America East Indian, Chinese, Korean, Filipinos, other Asians can do the same and also serve their ethnic group. In the other word, the job market is huge and I hope every ethnic group has a share of the job market. Specifications on much better Secure and very Intelligent Router: (Hi Tech secret) Specification on diagnostic software: (Hi Tech secret) Conclusion: One last word: As long as everyone is helping each other keeping up technically, the jobs in engineering and technical supports on IoT will not disappear but continue to grow. God Bless America and True Canadians. Frank L. K. Wan (www.dfa-college.org) Jan 29, 2016 Vancouver, BC
