Ms. Andrea Karanik VISIT A MUSEUM Our year of study will be an exciting time discovering the arts of many cultures and times. In order to begin this process, you must spend some time this summer doing some discovery on your own. You must visit a museum and view the art. Some suggested museums located nearby are listed on the reverse. You may also go to one of your own choosing, but please seek approval from me first. There are interesting new shows to see, as well as great permanent collections. ACTIVITY – FOUR ARTWORK OBSERVATIONS As you tour the museum, choose four artworks that made an impression on you and fulfill the requirements as detailed on the worksheets. The identifying information of artist, title, date, medium and size is usually posted directly next to the artwork. Medium refers to what the artwork is made from, such as oil on canvas or marble. If possible, provide an image of your chosen artworks. Be aware of the posted rules regarding the use of photography; the rules can change from room to room. You must also provide proof of your museum visit, such as a receipt. Your four observations are due the first day of school.
