Synergistic Activities :

*Participant, Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) Program, 1981-present. Principal Investigator of

Konza Prairie (1990-91) and Niwot Ridge (1992-2004) LTER sites. This activity requires coordination of multidisciplinary research, submission of annual undergraduate and schoolyard (K-12) research activities, and participation in outreach activities such as the creation of the virtual fieldtrip

(http://culter.colorado.edu/Field_trip/) and tundra camera (http://tundracam.colorado.edu/) activities.

*Community coordinator, Sustainable control of noxious weeds in Boulder County, Colorado. This work involves using student and community volunteers to test the efficacy of sustainable control methods for noxious weeds such as diffuse knapweed . (Program honored in Congressional Record , Vo1 147, No.

140 , Oct. 17, 2001; Winner of Boulder Pacesetter Award for work on the Environment, 2005.

*Participant, Heinz Center for Science, Economics and the Environment, "The State of the Nations

Ecosystems" (grassland/shrubland group). Report published 9/02, ongoing activity.

*Editorial Board for Soil Biology and Biochemistry, Pedobiologia and Oecologia .
