Attendance
Class attendance is mandatory and punctuality essential. Tardiness and / or unexcused absences
will not be acceptable and will seriously impact the final grade.
Class Participation
This is a seminar and, therefore, considerable time is devoted to class discussion. Class
participation is an important aspect of the course, and Interns are expected to actively share their
thoughts, ideas, and insights.
Mentor Quarterly Evaluation
At the conclusion of the quarter, each Mentor will be asked to provide a written evaluation on the
quality of the contributions made by his / her Administrative Intern to the department internship.
Journal
Journal assignments will be given on a weekly basis. Entries must be typed and should be 1-2
pages in length. Journal assignments will be due to the Student Coordinators prior to the
beginning of each class. Late submittals will result in a deduction of one point.
Team Project
This quarter, interns will participate in a Team Project. This project will entail researching and
proposing a set of recommendations on an issue of significant importance to UCI. Teams of
interns will be randomly assigned into groups of 3. Each intern team will propose a topic and
submit this topic to the coordinators for approval. Presentations will need to be clear, persuasive
and present salient points. Each intern team will have 8-10 minutes for the presentation. The
following are examples of potential topics:
