F.6 Admission Stage I Day 1 morning Date of release of HKCEE : 10th August (Wed) School Contact Telephone no. : 25221204 (office) i. Assembly Time: 8:30 a.m. Place: NEW HALL 1. General and Supplementary Information about Secondary six admission procedure, 2. application forms, 3. result slips and 4. other miscellaneous information booklets will be distributed. Students are advised to make good use of the information booklets for Stages II and IV if necessary. List of students who are ‘straight-in’ will be informed at 8:30 a.m. Deadline for submission of application forms to the office : 9:45 a.m. ii. First round release of application results ---- tentative time: 11:00 a.m. iii. Second round release of application results ----- tentative time: 12:00 noon iv. Admission Criteria for F.6: Passed in Chinese and English v. Science students who wish to change to Social Science Class must obtain D Grade in English & Chinese vi. Students applying for F.6A classes please note that the best six subjects will be considered according to the total points mentioned in the result slips. Students who take Principles of Accounts in Certificate level are eligible to study Principles of Accounts in F.6A. The quota for Principles of Accounts in F.6A is 20 and the CE result of this subject will be used for selection of students if the number of applicants is more than the quota. vii. Students who get distinction in Religious Studies will be given special consideration in the admission process. viii. According to the guidelines from the Education and Manpower Bureau, the school is allowed to use the quota of 2 discretionary places for each secondary six class to admit students who have attempted a previous HKCEE as a student of that school. 2 Stage I Day 1 morning Date of release of HKCEE : 10th August (Wed) (Cont’d) vii. The Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) will disseminate the HKCEE results on the web in addition to issuing the hard copy of the HKCEE results notices to individual candidates. However, only the HKCEE result notices (with admission slips attached) issued by the HKEAA direct should be accepted for S6 admission purpose. In other words, students should not use any printouts from the web for application of S6 places in government and aided schools. Registration (Venue: Staff Room A) All successful applicants are to bring the admission slips to STAFF ROOM A for registration. The school will detach and retain the admission slip attached to the HKCEE result slip for use as a record of admission of a particular student. During registration, successful applicants will be informed of which elective subject (if any) they are to take in F.6 and a booklist will be distributed to each successful applicant. School fee will not be collected during registration. Stage II Day 1 afternoon & Day 2 morning i. Students can get application forms from all other schools during stage I. All schools SHOULD NOT accept any application forms from outside applicants in stage I. All schools can only accept application forms from outside applicants in stage II. ii. In Stage II, all schools should inform individual applicants the results of their applications within half an hour after interview and proceed to register successful applicants. (Schools should do their best to inform the applicants beforehand the approximate time required to wait for an interview so that students may decide whether to proceed with their applications or not) iii. “Interesting and Useful” approach for saving time: student concerned may make use of a network of students / family members to approach different schools with duplicate copies of your result slip and get application forms from different schools. iv. School will apply only for those candidates whose expected grades for the subjects concerned are at least one grade above the grades awarded in the HKCEE. 2. According to the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, requests for rechecking of results are restricted to not more than 2 subjects per candidate and requests for rechecking and remarking are restricted to not more than 2 subjects. The maximum total number of subjects is FOUR. 3. The relevant fees are as follows : Subjects English Language / Putonghua Other Subject Rechecking & Remarking $560 $450 Rechecking $140 $115 4. To help the application , each applicant should prepare (a) a photocopy of his result notice and (b) sufficient amount of money. 5. Those who wants to apply for rechecking of the HKCEE results, please contact Ms. Y.F. Wong and Mr. Szeto (for Science Stream Students) or Ms. Esther Chia and Mr. Tony Chan (for Arts Stream Students) [Working hours: 10th Aug: 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.] or Mr. Davis Mak (school office) [Working hours: 11th-13th Aug 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon]. The deadline of application is 12:00 noon 13th August (Sat.) 6. The outcome of the rechecking will be released by the end of August. A copy of the outcome will be sent to the school for record purpose. Students can check the outcome with the office staff after 31 August. 4 III. APPLICATION FOR REPEATING FORM FIVE 1. Students who would like to apply for repeating Form 5 have to get the application forms from the office. 2. They are to complete the application forms and return them directly to Ms. S. KWAN / Mr. Y.L. CHUNG / Mr. W.K. Wu /Mr. R. Ng before 12:30 p.m. 10th August (WED). 3. List of successful applicants will be released after 2:00 p.m. 11th August (Thurs.). All applicants are to check the results of application with Ms. Kwan / Mr. Y.L. Chung at 2:00 p.m. on 11 August (Thurs.). IV. Contingency In the event of tropical cyclones, heavy persistent rain and thunderstorm which warrant the announcement on closure of schools by the Education & Manpower Bureau, special arrangement for the affected stages of the secondary six admission procedure will be announced in the media. Generally speaking, if Typhoon Signal No.8 or Black Rainstorm warning is issued early in the morning, the Procedure will be postponed and 11:00 a.m. will be used as a cut-off time for postponement of the Procedure either by half day or a full day. In brief, If Typhoon Signal No.8 / Black Rainstorm warning is cancelled at or before 11:00 a.m., the stage affected will be postponed to the afternoon of the same day. The other stages will be postponed accordingly. If Typhoon Signal No.8 / Black Rainstorm warning is cancelled after 11:00 a.m., all the remaining stages will be deferred by one day. While the above serves as a general guideline, details of any changes of the schedule will be announced on the radio and television in due course. 5 Secondary Six Admission Procedure Supplementary Information A. Means of Releasing F.6 Vacancy Information to Students Stage II & Stage IV 1. F.6 vacancy information will http://www.emb.gov.hk/s6ap. be put on a web site located at 2. Students may also dial to an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) telephone hotline at 1835 900 and input the code number of a school (refer to Appendix IV displayed on the school notice boards OR refer to the school lists available on EMB’s homepage at http://www.emb.gov.hk OR refer to another attachment in the school website. ) to get the vacancy information of that particular school. 3. The vacancy information will be displayed at 2:00 p.m. on 10 August and 9:00 a.m. on 11 August (beginning of Sessions 1 and 2 of Stages II respectively) and at 9:00 p.m. on 12 August (i.e. beginning of IV) at all Regional Education Offices. September Since schools will continue to update vacancy information on the internet, students can obtain the relevant information at the same website http://www.emb.gov.hk/s6ap. or through the IVR telephone hotline 1835 900 until the end of September. B. Operation of S6 Joint Admission Centres This year, a total of 8 S6 Joint Admission Centres will be operated. Those Joint Admission Centres will operate according to the schedule of respective stage(s) of the Procedure. The organizing committee of each Joint Admission Centre will announce the details of their arrangements separately. Relevant information will also be uploaded onto the EMB homepage at http://emb.gov.hk by the end of July. C. Enquiry Services To provide more communication channels for enquiries on the Secondary Six Admission Procedure, a Central Hotline (telephone numbers 2863 4714, 2863 4715 and 2863 4722) will be set up from 8 August to 17 August (8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and 9:00 am to 3:30 pm on weekend). Students can also contact the School Development Section of various districts if they wish to make enquiries.
