Here is what I reported on for the RVP report today 12/3/2011:

The IMA Global Board of Directors approved the name change of the IMA Foundation for Applied
Research (FAR) to the IMA Research Foundation (IRF) at the October Board meeting.

The IMA Board of Directors approved the revitalization of the Committee on Academic Relations.
Its mission will be to review and endorse management accounting programs that cover the CMA
body of knowledge.

IMAis seeking nominees for the inaugural IMA Young Professional Award. Nominations will be
accepted now through December 31, 2011.

Call for Entries is now open for the 2012 Carl Menconi Ethics Case Writing Competition. The
program recognizes excellence in business ethics cases for use in teaching. The deadline for
submissions is January 16, 2012. Click here for details.

IMA Chapters and Councils can use the IMA Speakers Bureau, a resource designed to facilitate
connections between event organizers and thought leaders from IMA’s membership.

IMA’s Inside Talk and IMA Leadership Academylive webinars offer NASBA-approved
CPE free of charge to IMA members. Upcoming events include:

Attendees: Lee Klebe, Mark Hendrickson, Dave McCormick, Brent Barcomb, Tom Rosengrath, Amy

At 8:35 AM, President Lee Klebe called the meeting to order.
Minutes of the 8 October 2011 council meeting were approved with corrections.
Treasurer’s report – Pat Martin: $10,789.55 in the bank account. $562.50 deposited in October is
proceeds from the CPA School of Washington CMA exam preparation class.
Chapter reports
Nations Capital – Dave McCormick: No immediate meeting scheduled. Trying to book the incoming
chair for April 2012. The GovCon seminar was very successful and breakfast meeting are going well.
Delmarvia – no report
Baltimore – Lee Klebe: Continuing meetings with 3 hours of CPE with Legends staffing. Held in both
October and December, and more scheduled for January.
Continuing network sessions, held two in November, one on December 5.
Had a social Friday night with the National Association of Black Accountants.
Legends Staffing is now part of Global staffing.
Continuing work with student chapters.
Richmond – Brent Barcomb: December meeting is a one hour with social, CPE is from Food Bank.
January dinner meeting will have 2 hours CPE, speaker from Ernst and Whinney. Will have CPE meetings
in February, March and April.
Shenandoah Valley – Tom Rosengrath: Continuing full slate of monthly meetings. Student night in
March, 4 hours of CPE in April.
Lee asked Tom if anybody in his chapter was trying to use social media to contact members. Tom
responded that towards students, and Twitter feed is ignored – considered advertising. Some following
on Facebook. Concerning the students, trying a more of a presence on campus including meeting with
the Beta Alpha Psi chapter and with Professors.

SCMS – Frank Homburger: SCMS met in San Antonio in October. Next meeting is June 2012 at the IMA
conference.
Old Business
Nominee to replace Amy in the IMA Global board: Dave McCormick submitted his name through Lee
Klebe.
Dave transmitted to the council the IMA Global Talking Points
Discussion about moving the council to LinkedupIMA from Yahoo Groups. Pat Martin took action to
look at.
Next Council meeting is February 18, 2012. Officers for the next year are on the list. If you are
interested, make it known through yahoo groups.
Tom made motion to adjourn, Dave seconded, adjourned at 9:35 AM.
