Siemens Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/cable and Co: High-speed for wireless, Internet
and multimedia fun
Photos, video, and music – the world of the Internet is becoming more colorful
and diverse with each passing day. High performance broadband technology offers the ultimate online multimedia experience for all. The new Gigaset wireless
local area network (WLAN) family from Siemens Communications is specially designed to deliver the future of high-speed data communications, and it is easy on
the eyes as well. Capable of transmission speeds of up to 108 Mbit per second, it
makes audio and video streaming a pleasure.
The Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/cable makes the home a high performance hotspot and
can be set up in a jiffy. PCs and notebooks can easily be connected to the wireless
network with the Gigaset USB Adapter 108 or with the Gigaset PC Card 108. The
Gigaset WLAN Repeater 108 extends the range of wireless networks in addition to offering full service WLAN base station (access point) functionality. Another novelty is the
traffic control function which keeps track of online time and the volume of downloaded
data. As a matter of course, these new 108-Mbit components are conveniently backwards compatible for use in any IEEE 802.11g and IEEE 802.11b standard network with
lower transmission rates.

WLAN router surfing from the living room sofa on a laptop is just as easy as from a lawn
chair in the garden. Even for the tech novice, setting up and using the Gigaset SE551
WLAN dsl/cable is very easy from start to finish. The traffic control function keeps track
of online time during surfing sessions as well as the volume of downloaded data. The
device’s high-speed USB jack enables the connection of a central network printer or
perhaps an external hard drive as a file server or web server. Additionally users can
connect up to four PCs via cable, or the wireless router can be used to extend a conventional wireline network. Security is also never sacrificed: An integrated firewall protects the network against unauthorized access.
Gigaset WLAN Repeater 108
The current WLAN connection cannot reach a new home office addition? When the demand for more range is the question, the Gigaset WLAN Repeater 108 has the answer.
Together with the Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/cable, a wireless network can easily be
extended to include a large property or even a multi-family dwelling. In the extended
WLAN area, enjoy up to 108 Mbit/s data transfer or surf the Internet at high speed. The
Gigaset WLAN Repeater 108’s range also supports its other talents: As an access
point, the unit offers a wireless networking solution for a single PC or extends an existing wireline network. Game consoles or set top boxes can also be integrated into a wireless network with the Gigaset WLAN Repeater 108 by its Ethernet interface.
Gigaset USB Adapter 108 and Gigaset PC Card 108:
With the Gigaset USB Adapter 108 or the Gigaset PC Card 108 every PC or laptop can
quickly and easily be connected to a WLAN. The PC cards and the USB adapter are
compact, yet offer maximum data rates of up to 108 Mbit/s, making them ideal travel
companions. As such, users can take advantage of the numerous high-speed Internet
hotspots now available in hotels or airports, listen to a favorite web radio station or
watch a favorite film on the privacy of a laptop display.
The Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/cable wireless router, the Gigaset USB Adapter 108 and
the Gigaset PC Card 108 will be available as of May 2005. The Gigaset WLAN Repeater 108 will be available as of June 2005.
