ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT REQUIRED, completion of the 4 courses for a Science GPA is recommended prior to the semester that you
will submit an application, rather than leaving one or more of the Science GPA classes “in progress” during the semester that you
apply. The order in which you take classes is up to you – but DO plan to take the 4 Science GPA courses prior to the semester that
you apply (Sept. 1 for Spring, Feb. 1 for Fall)
Does earning an AA degree give me an advantage in admission to UMB’s Traditional BSN? NO – if you can arrange your classes
to complete a degree, that’s fine, but it does NOT give you an advantage in admissions.
Will repeated science courses hurt my chance of admission? YES, unless there were circumstances beyond your control. This is
why it is essential to choose your classes with care – strive for balance.
I don’t think I can handle two major sciences in one semester! The Nursing Program assumes that you will be able to handle
intense courses later – if you can’t manage 2 sciences at once, this might be a sign that the major may not be a good fit for you.
Should I take Summer & Winter classes? Only if you can get great grades. Although the minimum overall & science GPA is a 3.0,
to be competitive, most students have GPA’s well above the minimum. There are only 40 seats available per semester @ USG.
