North State Rural Renewable Energies Technician Program Update – Jeff Cummings o Jeff discussed the “Renewable Energy Technician Core Certificate” handout (see www.nfnrc.org Calendar 1/29/10) o The Core Certificate provides entry-level skill sets that allow students entry into Renewable Energy Installation and Maintenance programs at one of the five Community Colleges participating in the project (Feather River, Mendocino, Lassen, Siskiyous, Redwoods). o Areas available to Core Certificate earners are: Solar, Wind, Biomass/Cogeneration, Hydroelectric, Geothermal o April/May ~ Paul Mrowczynski will attempt to hold industry skill set meetings; bring instructors together o Brad Banghart also developing Core project to include dual enrollment w/ high schools (test pilot project) WIB Partnership Survey ~ to facilitate collection of data to enhance partnerships between community colleges and WIBs in our region o Needs to be 100% completed by 15 NFN colleges by Friday, February 5th. o Gerri to RE-SEND to voting members to ensure completion. Concerning WIBs ~ opportunity for mini-grant up to $20,000 (per region) for joint project w/ WIB o Stewart Knox (NorTEC Director) proposes convening of WIBs in northstate around sector strategy approaches / working relationships.
