A wake will be held Thursday from 6 – 9 at Bibber’s in Kennebunk and the funeral will be Friday morning at St. Martha’s (check the Bibber website for details) Bob wished Karen a belated Happy Birthday ….. her big day was the 18th Bob mentioned that the dues and meeting quarterly meal bills have gone out and reminded everyone to keep their payments current. At the end of the meeting, Bob informed the club that Reggie has resigned and the Board accepted, with regret. Bottle Money Presentation Harvey gave an update on the bottle money …. $3,900 collected in the last seven months. We had excellent results since we changed contractors. He announced we will be turning over $600 to the Town Nurse for the Health Dept. o Police Chief Joe Bruni was at the meeting and accepted a check for $600, which he announced would, in turn, be donated to Caring Unlimited. Announcements from the floor… Don announced that the RF sustaining member stickers are available for those members that have pledged this year. Deb announced she is working on the District Public Relations Comm and they are preparing a grant to obtain a speaker for World Peace & Understanding dinner later this year Owen gave an update on Riverfest. Last weekend was well above average - $1,234, and our total sales are $4,632… which is ahead of last year. For this coming weekend, no one has signed up for HB on Sunday. He will email the list before the weekend and encouraged someone to contact him for coverage. The Riverfest Comm will meet today after the meeting to talk about resources for the race day event. Peg reminded everyone that golf tournament has been rescheduled to October 4. She asked people to get gift cards from favorite restaurants or shops and to talk to friends to put together a team. Classification Talk – Ki Leffler (Real Estate Auctioneer) Ki started out in the real estate business in 1964 in Frankfort, KY, where she grew up. She met Bill and moved to Maine in 1994. While she was waiting to break into the business locally, she went to auctioneering school in Missouri, where she learned to do all that fancy talking. She handed out a tongue twister she used to practice, and had the club try their luck. We recited Betty Butter …… , can you say that fast ten times?? Ki’s Classification Talk Raffle & Rotary Information Ted Baker read an article entitled “Lend Me Your Ear” that talked about how to be a good listener …. By reducing distractions (get away from your computer or blackberry, sit closer to the speaker, think about what the speaker is saying, etc. Dick asked Ted to repeat the statement! Our guest, Mike Manos, drew the winning ticket, but Wayne Adams did not draw the winning card. This week’s pot was worth $173. Happy Bucks Ted Trainer – for a great weekend on Star Island, off NH coast. He gave a talk on Polio Eradication. Becky – Late $ and happy $ for the donation Portside made to the Labor Day 5K run. Bob also asked the club to think about entering a group to run or walk together. Don – great morning selling ducks on Sunday with Rick at HB and for selling to his 2 mentors Ki – for a fun time working at Bradbury’s with Dave Jourdan Peg - $2 for playing in the Susan Cuming golf tournament and singing this summer with the jazz group. Dave - for working with Ki selling ducks and for Owen doing a good job with Riverfest Bill – survived a weekend with relatives Roger – ditto! Fines Deb – fro refusing to wear name tag and greeters badge …. Very uppity this morning Don - for having shaving cream or toothpaste behind his ear Roger – for being late ….. he said he was within the sound of the bell! Rick – he interrupted Ki and Doug working on the ‘fine’ list Ki - for transporting liquor across state lines Bill – Mr Wonderful, and a member of the SOB group Charlie – wasn’t wearing a tie Wayne Adams – for rolling out of bed, getting in his suit, go to our meeting and going back home Alan – didn’t give a happy $ for Karen’s birthday CLUB ASSEMBLY Bob did a recap of the last board meeting o o o Approved money for the YMCA Labor Day 5K Run, York County Food Rescue and Community Partners Attendance has been down the past few months, please see Cornelia about make ups (ie Riverfest sales, etc) Harvey has changed 6 Rotary meeting signs and put up new sign at the bottle collection site Dave presented charts on the results of last year’s financials – for Operating and Outreach.
