The 3Com Baseline Switch 2250 Plus is a unique, fixed configuration switch with 48 10/100 ports and 2 x
dual-purpose Gigabit SFP slots for either 1000Base-SX (3CSFP-91) or 1000Base-LX (3CSFP-92)
modules, depending on the product application. It combines a very low cost, normally expected from the
Baseline family, with an impressive array of functionality and control normally associated with higher cost

including fan and power supply, and 90 days free telephone support to give peace of mind. The table
below captures the product's strengths:

Flexible Gigabit uplinks
Browser-based user interface for switch configuration
and administration

network back bone via SFP based fiber modules
An easy to use user interface allows even the most

ensures optimal use of available bandwidth as traffic
flow is directed according to the needs of the
business. The switch supports up to 255 VLANs
Any number of ports of either copper or fiber (if an
SFP module is used) can be grouped together to
form an ultra high bandwidth pipe connecting the
switch to a network backbone and prevent any traffic
bottlenecks. The switch supports up to 4 trunks and
up to 8 ports per trunk
The user can examine suspect data streams received
on any port, by mirroring the data stream received to
a monitoring port. In addition, useful statistics are
collected and can be viewed on the web GUI so that

Unit management can be administered through an intuitive browser based GUI. An example of a page can be
seen below:
The Baseline Plus family now has three products that complement each other. Small business can now look to
a complete premium value solution from Baseline Plus Family. Complete Small Business solutions, including
WAN, Wireless, LAN switches and Voice can now be configured and managed through user friendly webbrowser Interfaces, offering more control to small business customers.
Q: Is the Baseline Switch 2250 Plus an unmanaged or a managed switch?
A: The Baseline Switch 2250 Plus is effectively a "smart managed" switch but management can only be
administered though a web browser.
The switch can be configured and managed through the web interface which is very similar in look and feel to
the OfficeConnect® Small Business router and security products web interface. This is different to all other
3Com managed switching products as the Baseline switch does not support CLI or SNMP management.
Q: What types of customers will want a Baseline Switch 2250 Plus
A: Small and Medium Business customers that are looking to deploy IP Telephony, Wireless LANs, or Web
Security Camera's are an ideal target for this product.
Q: What is the performance of this switch
A: This is an non-blocking switch. Switching capacity - 8.8 Gbps. Forwarding rate - 6.67 Mpps. MAC addresses
- 8,000.
