IV. Round Robin - Opening of School
Ridgeway: Smooth opening of school. Behind schedule with construction. Parking issues.
George Washington: Uneventful opening of school. One or two classes with incomplete ongoing
construction. Concerns regarding the kindergarten social.
Post Road: Really good opening of school. Calmer feeling in building. Some trouble with buses.
Mamaroneck Avenue: Smooth opening of school. A little tough preparing with only one day prior to receiving
students. Concerns regarding the kindergarten social. Transfer of rosters was not completed in time to set up
district programs such as Pearson SuccessNet and RazKids.
Church Street: Delayed repairs. Intercom issues causing ongoing safety issue. Working with principal to
resolve it.
Eastview: Overall a fine opening of school. Very few student schedule issues. Large class sizes.
Highlands: Smooth opening of school. Started off better with regard to discipline. Discipline Committee is
starting. Frustration caused by copier issues.
High School: Fairly smooth opening of school. Teachers’ time was respected.
Alternative Programs: Smooth opening of school. A nice start.
Pupil Services: A good start to the school year.
V. Motions
14-23 The White Plains Teachers Association approves a donation of $500.00 (Bronze Sponsorship) for
the 5K Lindsey Run/Walk on October 26, 2014. Motion to accept, seconded and passed
unanimously.
14-24 The White Plains Teachers Association approves a donation of $600.00 ($1 per member)
sponsorship of the Alliance for Quality Education’s (AQE) Champion of Education Awards on
Thursday, October 16, 2014. Motion to accept, seconded and passed unanimously.
