PREREQUISITES
Math 120 with a grade of “C” or better, or by the assessment process is required. Your prerequisite
verification (a transcript or assessment test results) or, if you are challenging the prerequisite, a copy of
your challenge form must be submitted to be by 9:00 am on Monday, August 31, 2009 in order to
remain enrolled in this course.

A calculator, online computer access, and a spreadsheet/stat program are required. The TI 30 is

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- recognize and understand terminology used in statistics such as experiment, sample,
variable, outcome, confidence interval and hypothesis testing.
- collect data from an experiment to be organized and analyzed.
- generate a report detailing the collection, organization, analysis and interpretation of the data from
an experiment.
- analyze collected data using appropriate technologies.
HOMEWORK
Weekly homework assignments will be given. Assignments will be due by midnight on Sundays.
Each homework assignment will be graded out of 10 points. At the end of the course, your homework
score will be scaled to a possible 50 pts. Late HW will not be accepted. Expect to spend a minimum
of 9 hours per week on average completing homework/studies!
QUIZZES
There will be one online quiz per week during weeks that have no exam. Since there are no make-up
quizzes, your lowest quiz score will be dropped. Each quiz will graded out of a possible 10 points. At
the end of the course, the quizzes will be scaled to 100 points.
LABS
There will be two computer labs worth 50 points each. Advance notice and instructions will be given.
A total of 100 pts may be earned for labs. It is recommended that you use EXCEL or STATCRUNCH

accepted.
WRITTEN
EXAMS
There will be 3 in-class, written exams. Half of the lowest exam score will be dropped. There is also
one in-class, written, comprehensive Final Exam. There are no make-up exams!
