a. HHM 2008 Ideas
i. Professional Traditional Dance or Performance of other South American Culture to
bridge the gap
ii. Community Service “A day in the life of a Latino College Student” – having HS student
come and follow or shadow us
iii. CS with Hispanic children
iv. Co-sponsor with CAB to bring someone in
v. A cultural expo with a lot of different clothes, food, information about other countries,
and possibly a performer. At U of R they usually have it and it is very successful
vi. Jeopardy game about the Latino culture
vii. Latinos in Literature – bring in an author
viii. One day that all organizations come together to make banners about the different Latin
American cultures
ix. Bring a Hispanic / Deaf speaker to bridge the gap: Angel Ramos (author – was born
hearing and became deaf). Bob Deville – First Hispanic deaf that got the Ph. D.
x. Having tables in the SAU about different cultures – One day – all day having information
about all cultures and dances (Merengue, Cumbia, Bachata, etc. having all dances)
xi. “Mondays on the clock” – during lunch hour having different dances from different
cultures – have people perform dances at that time.
xii. “Platanos and Collard Greens” – bring them in
xiii. Have the dance troop from Rochester and try to have one of the competitions here at RIT
to attract more of an audience
xiv. Make presentation on 2 -3 Latino countries or people. Bring everyone together to make it
and learn as we go

xvi. Immigration event: find statistics of how many Latinos are here, how did they migrated
and demographics
xvii. Scavenger Hunt on-campus where people would look for information Latino clues or
history – it could be about a person, country, culture, dance etc.

c. La Voz Status
i. Club or MSO
ii. Carline will speak with our advisor about becoming an MSO. We have been denied twice
for MSO but policies have changed since we have last applied.
iii. ACA wants to operate more like La Voz, where there would be senators and restructure
plan
iv. To RIT administration we do not exist – therefore we need to become a Club or MSO
v. We have moved forward since the beginning but still there isn’t much recognition of the
Latino community
1. Now there is food in cafeteria (SAU and Ritz)

vi. Should try to become an MSO to have an identity / entity
vii. If we operate as a club, financial need would be taken away

3Cs and a gripe
a. SHPE wants more membership to come. There has been a decrease in membership or the
support. Now more international students are involved but the old membership isn’t anymore.
Would like to see more people to come out to meeting. Had an intense project which needed a lot
of time and dedication and there was not a lot of support.
b. Everyone should go to each other’s events. There should be more unity and equality amongst all
Latino groups.
c. Encourage to go to HDC meeting and have interpreters at events and meetings. Make it a routine
at any events that

tickets, general meeting this Friday will be in 1-3331 on Women abuse and politics
g. LAU – Lambda Lounge February 14th – will have slow music, fun, and games in SDC 1300
9pm – 2am. Mi Tierra March 28th
h. Dominican Student Conference – 2nd Annual will be at NYU on February 29, 2008. Try to have
La Voz sponsor and give a presentation after.
i. HDC – general meeting this Wednesday – will be making shirts and make cards for sick children
in the hospital in SDC 2102
j. LPC – Pi Chi Week 3/17 – 3/23
k. OPB – Week of Illumination 3/24 – 3/30
l. The Unity Jam should be continued. Discussion about comments of what happened.
