Sociology The Sociology Major requires a minimum of 34 semester hours (10 courses) in Sociology and the Sociology Minor requires a minimum of 21 hours (6 courses) in sociology. Major Requirements: Student majors must take all courses in the foundations core category and one course in the experiential/capstone core category. Student majors must also select at least one course from each of the area category groupings (see below). Student majors must develop a concentration by taking at least three courses in one particular area. Student majors must take at least 2 area courses above the 300 level, and 1 400 level area course. Minor Requirements: Minors must take all courses in the foundations core category excluding the experiential/capstone care category. Minors must complete a course in at least 2 area category groupings, one of which must be at least a 300 level beyond the core courses.
