AgeLine ( 1978- ) by the AARP ( American Association of Retired Persons ) provides bibliographic references
and original abstracts for journal articles, books, book chapters, reports, and government documents related to aging
and middle age, from an interdisciplinary perspective of psychology, economics, sociology, gerontology, public policy,
business, health and health care services, and consumer issues.
CINAHL with Full-Text ( 1981- ) The Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health
Literature ( CINAHL ) database by EBSCOhost® provides authoritative, indexing coverage to
nearly 2,600 journals. While online abstracts are available for citations in more than 800 of these
titles, there also are now more than 600 journal titles with full-text included. The database also
identifies books, dissertations, selected conference proceedings, standards of professional
practice, and educational software, including audiovisual materials, in nursing.
Cochrane Controlled Trials Register ( CCTR ) is a bibliographic database containing over 300,000
references to definitive controlled trials in health care. The Cochrane groups and other organizations’ specialized
registers, in cooperation with the National Library of Medicine ( NLM ) in Washington, DC, producer of MEDLINE, and
Reed Elsevier of Amsterdam ( the Netherlands ) producer of EMBASE, form the CCTR database. Contributors to the
Cochrane Collaboration follow quality control standards to ensure that only reports of definitive randomized controlled
trials, or controlled clinical trials, are included.
EBM Reviews: ACP Journal Club ( 1991- )
A core of material from premier sources in the burgeoning evidence-based medicine movement:

the "ACP Journal Club," a joint publication of the ACP ( American College of Physicians ) and the American
Society of Internal Medicine;

full text reviews of clinically-relevant articles published in "Evidence Based Medicine," a joint publication of the
ACP and the BMJ ( British Medical Journal ) Publishing Group;

full text topic overviews from the "Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews."
EBM Reviews: Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews
is by the international Cochrane
Collaboration, which consists of groups of experts in 50 clinical specialties who authoritatively review hundreds of
studies on topics in their specialty. Each group selects those articles that meet strict EBM criteria; performs "metaanalyses" when possible on all the included studies; and then writes a detailed, structured review of the topic and their
findings. These reviews allow clinicians to get fast, "bottom line" answers to their most commonly asked questions,
based on a comprehensive and expert analysis of the available medical literature.

EBM Reviews: Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness
DARE is a full-text database containing critical assessments of systematic reviews from a variety of medical journals. Produced by
the National Health Services' Centre for Reviews and Dissemination ( NHS CRD ) at the University of York, England, It consists of
structured abstracts of systematic reviews covering topics such as diagnosis, prevention, rehabilitation, screening, and treatment.
EBM Reviews: Cochrane Methodology Register contains over 9,000 bibliographic references to controlled trials in
health care. It aims to include all published reports of empirical methodological studies relevant for inclusion in a Cochrane
methodology review, along with comparative studies relevant to the conduct of systematic reviews of healthcare interventions.
EBM Reviews: Health Technology Assessment database brings together details of ongoing studies of the medical,
social, ethical, and economic implications of healthcare interventions.
EBM Reviews: NHS Economic Evaluation Database contains over 6,000 abstracts of quality assessed economic
evaluations. The database aims to assist decision-makers by systematically identifying and describing economic evaluations,
appraising their quality and highlighting their relative strengths and weaknesses.
HealthSTAR ( 1975- ) contains citations to the published literature on Health Services, Technology, Administration, and
Research. It focuses on both the clinical and non-clinical aspects of health care delivery.
MEDLINE ( 1950- ) Produced by the U.S. National Library of Medicine ( NLM ), it is widely recognized as the premier
database for bibliographic and abstract coverage of biomedical literature. MEDLINE encompasses three traditional print sources:
"Index Medicus," the "Index to Dental Literature," and the "International Nursing Index". It includes allied health, the biological and
physical sciences, the humanities, and information science as they relate to medicine and health care. More than 15 million
records from 5,000+ journals are indexed. Abstracts are included for more than 50% of the records.
MEDLINE In-Process Citations is the National Library of Medicine's ( NLM ) first-step, in-process database for MEDLINE.
It provides keyword searching access ( i.e., finding a word or phrase within a title or abstract ) for journal article citations before they
are fully-indexed with Medical Subject Headings ( MeSH ) and then added to MEDLINE. New records are added daily. Completed
records are added to MEDLINE weekly. Formulate your search first in MEDLINE with Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) and use
your printout for inspiration for words to search within MEDLINE In-Process.
PsycINFO ( 1806- ) covers the professional and academic literature in psychology and related disciplines, including:
medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, and other areas. Coverage is worldwide
and includes references and abstracts for over 2,300 journals in more than 30 languages, to book chapters and books in the
English language, and to dissertations. Over 50,000 references are added annually. Popular literature is excluded.
