Goal 1: Graduate from UNT by completing BAAS degree requirements.
Graduate with Honors (summa cum laude or magna cum laude).
Rationale: Completion of BAAS degree is a personal achievement that fulfills a lifelong goal.
Completion of a 4 year degree provides career opportunity beyond those presented by current 2
year degree/workforce experience credentials. It is probable that will have better (CTE
teaching) employment opportunities if I complete the BAAS degree. Graduating with Honors
fulfills promise to self and enhances resume.

Steps to Completion of Goal 1:
1. Complete UNT coursework in progress; maintain GPA (Spring ’10)
2. Meet with campus based advisor for information about Teaching Internship
requirements.
3. Obtain a suitable teaching position that fulfills Teaching Internship requirements.
4. Complete LTEC 4740 (2 semesters), LTEC 4440, LTEC 4741
Required Resources (by step):
1. Tuition: Personal funds ($2883) and Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship ($1500), time to
complete work. Schedule adequate study/work time to maintain current GPA.
2. Time is required to coordinate/attend campus meeting(s). Identify/recognize campus
based advisor and Mentor.
3. Information from Step 2 and time to search/interview for job.
4. Tuition: Coordinate with Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship office to ensure fund availability
for 6 hour per semester, under “last 2 semester” rule of Scholarship. Use personal funds
to pay any balance outstanding after PTK ($1500 per semester) contribution (estimate
$500-$1200 in personal funds for final two semesters). Time required maintaining GPA.

Goal 2: Obtain secondary CTE teaching certification.
Rationale: CTE certification is required for employment as a professional educator in the state
of Texas. This certification will allow me to work in education; it will add to my credentials
should I elect to work as a corporate trainer.

Steps to Completion of Goal 2:

1. Pass NOCTI Exam.
2. Complete UNT TExES Content Review
3. Complete New Teacher Survival Workshop or Complete Teacher Survival CD
4. Attend Summer Professional Development Conference
5. Pass TExES Exam #170 for Trade and Industrial Technology Education.
Required Resources (by step):
1. NOCTI exam fee = $400 (personal funds), information from UNT regarding schedule
times and materials for review/preparation.
2. Schedule time to take TExES Content Review (verify session is free)
3. Fee for and time to complete Teacher Survival CD (personal fund estimate $50-$100)

Rationale: Improved public speaking and presentation skills will increase my effectiveness as a
classroom educator and/or corporate trainer. Confidence in presentation skills will allow better
delivery of instructional content.
Key development area: Professional development in presentation strategies/communications.
Steps to Completion of Goal 3:
1. Read complete Sullivan and Wircenski Presentation Text from LTEC 4120.
2. Join Toastmasters International to access their education/training.
3. Complete advanced BCIS course at CCCC to learn advanced PowerPoint skills.
4. Attend Region 10 Effective Teaching Practices Seminars for Professional Development.
Required Resources (by step):
1. Time to complete reading and review of text
2. Toastmasters membership fee = $54 annually (personal funds)

Goal 4: Continue to learn CAD tools and marketable computer application skills.
Rationale: In order to effectively teach CAD and computer applications, I must remain
proficient in the use of the most current software tools used in industry. Keeping my skill set up
to date will keep my instructional content (and resume) applicable to industry demands.
Key development area: Professional development in CAD and computer applications (area of
specialty).
Steps to Completion of Goal 4:
1. Attend quarterly Oasis Sales PCB design seminars to remain current on PADS.
2. Pursue part time summer employment as a CAD Lab assistant at CCCC.
3. Take DFTG courses at CCCC, concentrating on courses added since CCCC graduation.
4. Take BCIS 2390 at CCCC.
