The newspaper industry is doing well. With the paper, weeklies, magazines, and Web pages,
the number of people touched is at an all time high.
Use www.statesmanjournal.com is a communication resource. Agencies can create blogs,
post press releases, upload photos etc. Agencies may also post press releases to Statesman
Journal State Government/State Worker Blogs by sending the request and release to
news@statemanjournal.com or bchurch@statesmanjournal.com.
Dennis Thompson seeks to create relationships with state PIO’s. Dennis wants more news to
add to his State Worker Web Page, State Worker Q &A, Reporter’s Notebook, and State
Worker Blog. Looking for stories that matter to employees, not necessarily high, policy-level
information.

Update: DAS Efforts to Provide Social Networking Guidelines

DAS Public Affairs continues to gather information from several sources. Once information
is put together, we’ll send it out to the subcommittee for review.
NASCIO is creating a template agreement between states and social networking sites, which
we’ll release when it’s available.
