Analyst, Digital & Visual Media (Ovum) An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Analyst to join the Ovum Media Practice, the division of Informa Business Information focused on Telecoms, Media and Technology. Ovum’s Media, Entertainment and Consumer department provides business-critical advice and intelligence on visual entertainment (TV, streaming video), digital media and technology to the World’s leading movie studios, broadcasters, pay TV operators, telcos, operators, Internet firms, consumer electronics manufacturers, financiers, consultants and technology vendors. The successful candidate will play a key role in sustaining and expanding Ovum’s market-leading coverage of the digital and visual entertainment industries. They will produce best-in-class research and analysis focusing on data-led industry and company tracking, market sizing and forecasting deliverables. The position is suited to a methodical and numerate individual with a passion for innovation in media and technology and an understanding of the commercial aspects of the same. The successful candidate will be capable of systematically gathering detailed and commercially critical data from a wide variety of sources including financial reports, press releases, websites and interviews with media, entertainment and technology industry executives, and managing the databases and spreadsheets housing the data. They will also provide insight and analysis into key trends, industry and market developments discernible from the data and information they collect. Ovum’s research and consultancy is built on a converged and collaborative model making the ability to work as part of a team essential. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Systematically gather data on multiple aspects of the digital and visual media industries and manage the databases and spreadsheets housing the data Produce detailed, rigorous and distinctive research and analysis on what the data reveals about digital entertainment industry trends, particularly around visual entertainment and digital media in the form of market trackers and reports Advise Ovum clients on how best to react to industry, market, consumer and technology trends. Ovum’s advisory business is distinctive and successful because it enables clients to perform better commercially; the Media Analyst will be expected to contribute substantially to this Work with colleagues to devise and coordinate the company’s long-term TV and digital media research agenda. Ovum topic experts are expected to build and maintain a high profile as thought leaders in the media.
