VERY IMPORTANT to make your reservations NOW…when our block
is gone, there are no more rooms available – hotel is totally sold out
except for our block on Thursday and totally sold out for Friday night.
Our national convention agenda is almost final…and has shaped up very
nicely – see attached.
NISA sincerely appreciates everyone who has volunteered to be on the
agenda…this is what makes our meetings way above average – topics are
timely and information shared will be excellent.
As June 25, the following will be attending:

The above list is NOT complete…NISA has called every owner. However,
some of you were not available and a message was left for you to call
back…so we are waiting to hear from you.
It IS time now to make your room reservations…when our block is filled,
the hotel has already told us there will be no additional sleeping rooms
available…they are already sold out except for our room block…and at
this time there are no rooms left for Friday night either, September 10th we plan to adjourn around 3:30—4:00 p.m. on Friday…so if you are
driving, you can still get back home at a reasonable hour and if you are
flying, you should be able to catch a late afternoon/early evening flight
back home.
Attached is our agenda for our national convention.
I AM VERY EXCITED with the additions/modifications and changes we
have made to our agenda.
Please let me comment in detail as to why I am excited about our
agenda…
The NISA Board of Directors will meet at 11:30 on Thursday morning.
We’ll review NISA services, benefits, and suggestions of how we can do
an even better job for you.
Our convention officially starts at 1 p.m. – name of room to be announced
closer to our dates.
First speaker is Ed Lenz, Attorney for ASA…speaking on the Healthcare
reform bill and how it will affect temporary staffing owners. Bring
questions with you – he will have answers for us…he is an expert on this
bill.
After a short soda break, Jeff Tuisl, Assurance, NISA’s insurance
representative, will talk to us about what coverages you absolutely must
have and what they cover and also what other kinds of insurance you may
or may not have and may or may not need. Do all of you know what
policies you have and what they do or don’t cover? Now is the time to do
a review…make sure you have what you need and drop those that are not
necessary – save yourself dollars!
We may or may not have a company with us who would demonstrate a
service they provide to temporary staffing firms that does videos. This
will be confirmed within the next week or so…but is probably something
you may want to think about – technology allows for us to do things
differently these days and sometimes it is a matter of keeping up with the
competition to remain competitive…this may be one of those things.
Thursday evening we will have our annual get-acquainted/renewing
friendships reception…always fun and so nice to see one another again.
Friday morning after continental breakfast, we will start the morning
with “open discussions” on various topics with leaders coordinating the
discussions.
David Dietz, Preference Personnel, selected the topic of “Sales.” Sales is a
top priority in every business…and he will be discussing what Preference
Personnel does as far as their Sales Program; he will ask everyone to
share ideas of how they have increased their sales; what programs they
have tried; what has worked; what may not have worked; and what new
ideas may be working.
We plan to have the hotel set up the table/chairs in a semi-circle or close
to it…so the leader can face the group and we can hear what everyone
says – this year it was decided to do the “open” discussions instead of
round table discussions…this way everyone hears everything shared and
leaders will not need to repeat their information 3 or 4 times.
The next three topics will be led by Meghan Stevens, Sierra Employment.
1) Medical marijuana in the workplace…this is now “catching on,” and I
believe 7 states have authorized or passed legislation for medical
marijuana use…will it spread throughout our country? Chances are it
will…what do we need to do to protect ourselves? 2) Prevailing Wage –
something Meghan is already involved in and is willing to share with us as
to how it works and what the benefits are. 3) Politics – it’s time to get
involved in local and state affairs…if we don’t; we will never be
heard…are you involved?
Russell Landry, Capital Consultants, would like to hear how owners have
managed to adjust to the recession and what their plans are now in
preparing for the upturn…be prepared to share your experiences.
Brian Hamilton, Priority Staffing, has selected “Background checks” as a
topic affecting all of us – let’s share what service you use; what has been
your experience; and what situations have shocked you! Sharing costs is
also important – please bring specifics with you – handouts if you prefer.
Tracey Madden, CPC, CTS, McIntosh Staffing Resources, will be talking
with us again this year…and the topic of her presentation will be decided
shortly.
At noon we plan to present awards…however, at this point response has
been almost at zero…if we are going to have an awards luncheon, we
need to have ALL of you submit your information…attached are the
forms again…please send them back ASAP. Thank you.
Friday afternoon will be educational and very exciting!
Some of you may have already heard about the Tax Credit Program
offered to all NISA members by Vrain – Chris Mohr, Tom Daniel and
Jason Muehleck, Ameristaff…but if you haven’t been informed about tax
credits and how you can get involved in this program, you will not want
to miss this session. It could put $’s in your pocket.
The last session of the afternoon is a very timely one – “Social Networks.”
NISA is most fortunate to have Morgan Meador, Meador Staffing
Services, Pasadena, TX, present for us how you get started with
LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. How can you use it, brand your
services, and get the most from these? Morgan is an expert in this area –
you will have received a questionnaire asking you “where you are with
social networks.” This will help her determine what to cover or what not
to cover. If you are not using any of the above, Morgan can actually help
you get started – and explain how each of them works. It may sound a bit
complicated, but she can help you understand how to use it.
We expect to adjourn our national convention about 3:30-4 p.m. –
allowing those of you who are driving to Oak Brook to get back home at a
reasonable hour, and those of you flying in should be able to get a flight
back home that evening.
The NISA National Convention in September, 2011, will be held at the
Courtyard by Marriott Chicago Downtown.
