First, thanks to Dean Tompkins for recommending Embassy Suites
Phoenix Biltmore for our meeting…it was a wonderful place to have our
meeting and the service was excellent. Dean is from Helms Briscoe and
provides NISA with a selection of hotels and their specific information
and has negotiated great room rates for us over the years – at no charge.
If anyone needs help in setting up a meeting, he would be happy to help
you.
Secondly, NISA wants to thank Assurance and VRAIN, sponsors of our
reception Wednesday night. It was a chance for everyone to get to meet
each other.
Thursday morning started with continental breakfast in the general
session room.
Elaine warmly welcomed everyone and thanked everyone for coming.
Elaine introduced NISA’s Board of Directors: Bob Jensen, Temp
Associates, Muscatine, IA; and Peter Durham, Durham Staffing, Depew,
NY; and Meghan Stevens, Sierra Employment, Mammoth Lakes, CA.
Tina Gregerson, Personnel Staffing, Gadsden, AL, was unable to attend.
Elaine introduced two new members: Marc Turner, Career Concepts,
Erie, PA; and Kyle Carstensen, Alternative Staffing, Cicero, IL. They
were both presented with NISA paperweights.
Then we went around the U-shaped table for introductions. Members
brought a marketing piece that they use with their clients to help keep
their name in front of them….some very interesting tidbits of information
were shared!
Bob Jensen showed the video of Temp Associates 25-year history – how
he and JoAnn and Kevin started the business and how it grew to where it
is today.…very inspiring…he has had a number of special client meetings
over the years and invited well-known athletes to the affair…Bob
reported his clients really like this and appreciate it. For the 25 th
celebration he invited one of the partners from Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream
– and this was well attended.
Phil Mussallem gave a presentation on “Most common legal mistakes for
the staffing industry. A lot of good information was shared!
Phyllis Eller-Moffett, Quality Staffing, Cary, NC, gave a summary on
how she got into temp staffing and changes that have occurred over the
years. She also talked about what she has done to build her business.
NISA wants to thank COATS and EGS for sponsoring breaks during the
meeting.
Meg Roberson and Celena DeFreitas from Gulf Coast Business gave a
presentation of their services and what they can do to help you with
financing to staffing companies.
Larry Dietz introduced Gregg Palmer right after lunch. Greg talked
about “Forecasts” in the staffing industry. He predicts a 4% growth in
the coming year.
Our group then had breakout sessions on “Incentives Programs.” Those
who participated were in one group and those who did not continued the
discussion from the morning session with Phil Mussallem on the most
common legal mistakes made in the staffing industry.
The day finished up with Jeff Tuisl and Rich from Assurance giving a
presentation on 401k plans. If anyone has questions, feel free to call Rich.
Friday morning Greg Palmer completed his presentation on gross
margins and ESOP. Greg will email his information to Peter and Peter
will be forwarding it to all NISA owners…if you have questions, feel free
to contact Greg.
The last speaker before breaking for lunch was Barbara Bruno, Good As
Gold Training. Her topic covered what owners need to do to protect
their business.
Barbara challenged every own to bring in one new NISA member in the
coming year…the sharing of ideas and information would double and
triple. Every owner who refers an owner to NISA for membership will
receive a $100 thank-you check for the referral…please put your thinking
caps on…who do you know that you could refer?
Please also remember our NISA Policy…only ne firm from a specific
marketing area may join NISA…this covers a 50-mikle radius, but if a
city has a population of over 100,000, NISA allows 1 membership per
100,000 people. In the event that a prospective member would like to join
where there is already a member, the President has the right to approve
or disapprove them joining the network with consultation of the current
member. Please also note that a member’s territorial exclusivity will
expire is someone from their office has not attended either the annual
owners’ meeting or the national convention during the previous two-year
period.
The next NISA meeting will be our national convention. It will be held at
the Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas. Dates are September 12-14.
Elaine announced Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX, will be the site of the 2013 NISA
Owner/Managers’ Meeting. Details will be announced after a hotel is
selected. It will again be held the third weekend in January.
This ended our owner/managers’ meeting for 2012…It was a very
successful meeting; and once again, we thank you for attending.

REMINDERS…IF you haven’t returned the owner/managers’
questionnaire as yet, please fill it out as soon as you have a few minutes.
Your comments and suggestions are very important and it helps to plan
next year’s owner/managers’ meeting.
If you need a questionnaire form, please contact Peter at 9920-720-5327.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT REMINDER…IF you haven’t mailed in your
dues as of today, please do so today to avoid a late charge.
Payments not received on or before January 31, will be considered tardy
and a revised invoice with a late charge will be emailed to you.
The majority of you have mailed your dues – some of you back in
December so you could include the dues on your income tax…and we
prefer NOT to add a late charge, but in our ever-continuing effort to keep
our costs to a minimum, we need everyone’s cooperation and by paying
dues no later than January 31, it helps not to have to make phone calls
and resend invoices.
Thanks everyone.

Now is the time for ALL of you to give us your ideas and suggestions as to
what you’d like included on our convention agenda…this is YOUR
convention and we’ll set it up accordingly.
What topics would you like to have discussed?

Anything else?
This is the convention awards are presented in various categories…any
ideas of what types of awards NISA should be presenting?
