ONLINE VERSION FOR LYNC
Lync Web Access
Stay Connected with Communicator Web Access
Stay Connected with Communicator Web Access
Have you ever been on a public Internet access or friend's computer and wished you could dash off a
quick instant message to a colleague when a protracted email dialog wouldn't do and a phone call was
not possible? Communicator Web Access for Lync allows you to easily do just that. Simply point the
browser to https://cwa.uky.edu and sign in with your Active Directory userid and password (ad
\userid or mc\userid). If you enter your userid and password correctly a popup window will appear
(make sure that the browser will allow popups from this site) that looks almost exactly like the Lync
client on your desktop.
This web access client is actually the old OCS R2 release of Communicator Web Access. At this time
there is no native Lync 2010 Web Access client for instant messaging and presence. However, this is
still a great way to have instant messaging and presence wherever you are without the need for a Lync
2010 client to be installed.
It also works great for non-Windows based machines such as Linux or Apple MacOS.
Lync Mobile
The Microsoft Lync client for Mobile clients is available for iPhones & iPads on the iTunes market, and it
is available on the Android marketplace too. To download & install it, search your appropriate mobile
application marketplace for the “Microsoft Lync 2010” application. Then install it as you would any other
application for your mobile device.

UKAg Social Media Policy and
Information
Creating a Social Media Page
College Departments/Units/Programs/Extension County Offices that would like to start a new
social media presence should e-mail the UK Office of Public Relations and Marketing,
ukpr@uky.edu, place in the subject line social media approval request. All institutional pages must
have a full-time appointed employee who is identified as being responsible for content. Ideally,
this should be the unit head of the department.
UK Social Media Policies and Guidelines
Social media are powerful communications tools that have a significant impact on organizational
and professional reputations. Because the use of social media may blur the lines between personal
voice and institutional voice, the University of Kentucky (“University” or “UK”) has established the
following policies to clarify how best to enhance and protect the University, as well as personal and
professional reputations, when participating in social media. http://www.uky.edu/regs/ files/ar/AR104.pdf
Both in professional and institutional roles, employees are expected to follow the same behavioral
standards online as they would in the real world. The same laws, professional expectations, and
guidelines for interacting with students, parents, patients, alumni, donors, media, and other
University constituents apply. Employees are accountable for any institutionally related content
they post to social media sites.
UK Social Media Recommends Two
Administrators
We recommend Social Media sites having at least two administrators (UK Employees) within the
county for each account.
UK eTraining
Faculty and Staff have access to training through which they can sharpen their knowledge, skills, and abilities
for personal and professional growth. Instruction from Human Resources Training covers a spectrum of
subjects designed to meet the needs of university employees. Topics include:
1
Adult basic literacy
2
Meet the personal computer
3
Basic and intermediate computer skills
4
Supervisory skills
5
University policy and procedures
6
Communication, leadership, and team building
7
Workplace conflict resolution
All training is available at no charge and is open to all employees. Courses include instructor-led, self-paced,
hands-on, and web-based courses. Log in with your link blue user ID and password at www.uky.edu/HR/
