July 31, August 1, 2, 2009 Pi Theta Epsilon’s (PTE) Weekend News: 7/31/2009 – 8/2/2009 Helpful tips: Blackboard (BB) & Digital Drop Box (DDB): When submitting assignments via DDB or posting on Discussion Board, be sure NOT to use any symbols (i.e. #, -, :, .) This is not compatible with the system. Your submission will state that the document was sent or posted, but once you try to open, the document will not open. For example, a document titled “Assignment #1” or “Assign.#1” should instead read “Assignment1” or “Assign1”—no symbols!! Be sure to ALWAYS double check by opening up the document after you post it. First year students be sure to save all professional growth forms, advocacy certificates, Dean’s list letters, an updated resume, and any other recognitions. These will be handy when creating your professional portfolio! Keep them in a safe place! Create a master “APA Reference Bank”!! Create a master reference list by just copying & pasting the references you use in each paper. This will save you time and energy!! --you will use those references again in later papers throughout the program. Join AOTA!! Membership provides you with access to AJOT, OT Practice, their Evidence-Based Practice topics sections, discounts, and much more. Pi Theta Epsilon officers: President: Nicole Beshaw Vice President: Katelyn McArdle Treasurer: Misba Babar Secretary: Tiffany Santiago and Teresa Wegert Members: Melissa Ferrando, Laura Volz, Tara Fettes, Audra Rutnik, and Paula Emma (Feel free to leave any comments/suggestions in our student mailboxes in the OT office) Applications for PTE - Pi Theta Epsilon PTE is the national honor society for occupational therapy. Students who have completed 27 credits in the professional occupational therapy course sequence with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and receiving letters of invitation, are eligible to apply to the Gamma Alpha Chapter at Dominican College. Submit applications to Professor Jan Garbarini, the faculty advisor, Rm 108, Prusmack Center, by August 14, 2009. PLEASE REMEMBER TO CHECK STUDENT “MAILBOXES*” IN THE OT OFFICE. *vertical organizer on top of file cabinet Summer Hours at Sullivan Library The Sullivan Library is located on the west side of Rosary Hall. Faculty-Student Rep meetings usually fall on the second weekend of each trimester. The first meeting of the 2009-10 academic year will be Friday October 2 at 6pm. Voting for class representatives will be anonymous. It will most likely take place via a Blackboard survey posted at a later date.
