VISION STATEMENTS:

Barrington School: In our diverse community of learners, no one has to do everything, but
everyone has to do something.

Establish a school that is not just accessible in its building – where teachers see an importance in
adapting their lessons for their students who have special needs and are trained in how to teach
students with special needs.

Barrington Kid: I have caring teachers; I feel important; My parents, teachers and I all work
together; Everyone listens to me; I feel safe, I am treated with respect and I respect others; I Love
My School. Imagine This: Imagine this if you would – that Barrington was at the best it could be.
Students enjoying learning like little honeybees. Taking all of their knowledge and etching it into
stone. Some may want to box it up and take a little bit home – spread it, share it to Mom’s &
Dad’s alike. Parents might want to grab hold of some of this delight. That is what our dream
would be in the year 2003!


Various learning strategies throughout the school; Enthusiastic, creative, motivated staff and

If Barrington was perfect … Students are excited and can’t get enough of learning; They respect
themselves and others around them; Recess is longer; Less paperwork; Large classrooms;
Supportive parents who respect the teachers; Strong community support; Smaller student teacher
ration 16:1; Better cafeteria food (Pizza Hut, Burger King, Chili Cheese Nachos); Everyone gets
along; People are open to new ideas and friendly; Aide in every room

Academic success; Respectful students; All would be involved; Artwork everywhere – may be
permanent; Lots of reading time; Address reading and learning styles; Students have some
ownership in the building operations; More play and creativity for all ages; Galactic program
offered to everyone; Classes and school has small numbers; More group art work; Six graders
have wall with a motto to leave their handprints (permanent); Skills taught in different ways with
different medias; FEEL GOOD! FUN TO COME! HAPPY!
