Urban Development Forum with Urban Geography

Commission, Chinese Geographic Society, PRC

Following the success of last year’s Geographical Forum of China Regional

Development, The International Centre for China Development Studies (ICCDS),

Department of Geography and HKU China Strategic Research Program will jointly organize an Urban Development Forum entitled as

Public Forum on China’s Urban

Development in the State 11th Five-Year Plan , with Urban Geography Commission,

Chinese Geographic Society, PRC. Professor Zhou Yixing, Prof. Gu Chaolin, and

Chen Tian, the Commission Heads, will lead a group of China’s current most renowned urban scholars to visit our HKU and present keynotes speeches. The Date of the Forum is set at 20-22 Dec 2005, totaling 3 days with 1.5 day meeting and 1.5 day in tour and leisure. All professors in this email list (see below list) are cordially invited as the

Forum Keynote Speakers and expected to present a keynote speeches.

Three parties of HKU will sponsor this event and jointly share the cost: ICCDS (Simon

Zhao); Dept of Geography (Geogre Lin); and HKU China Strategic Research Program

(Roger Chan). Except for a few keynote and senior speakers (Prof. Hu Xuwei, Prof. Hu

Zhaoliang, Prof. Xu Xueqiang, Prof. CUI Gonghao, and Prof Lawrence Ma etc.), all invited guests/speakers will be responsible for their international flights. HKU will be responsible for all expenses in HK (accommodation, food and organized transport).
