OTHER FACULTY RECOGNITIONS DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES The 2006 DSES Commencement was held at the Krause’s Restaurant and Grove and was attended by a total of 57 people; there were 11 graduating students, 21 family members and friends; and 25 faculty, staff and invited guests. Mr. Albert Wurz was selected by the faculty as the year 2006 recipient of the Rensselaer Alumni Association (RAA) Fellows Award. Al was our speaker at this year's luncheon; his topic was "Engineering Opportunities are Better Than Ever." The following awards and prizes were awarded at the luncheon: The Ray Palmer Baker Prize was awarded to Kiley Dean and Matthew Zepernick; The Del and Ruth Karger Doctoral Dissertation Prize was awarded to Dr. Lingyi Zhang and Dr. Aparna Gupta (advisor), and Dr. Ali Yasar and Drs. Ananth Krishnamurthy and James M. Tien (co-advisors); the DSES Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award was awarded to Adam Petrie; Meaghan Faraca was the recipient of the 2006 Material Handling Educational Foundation Scholarship.
