Conference Minutes
Olathe Community of Christ Church – November 5, 2011
The Midlands Mission Center fall conference was opened @ 10:10 a.m. with the
singing of “Lord I Give You” (Sing a New Song Hymnal # 32) followed by “As We
Gather” (Sing a New Song Hymnal # 3).
Mike Hale, Midlands Mission Center President, welcomed the conference
members and the Conference then turned to the Hymn of the Saints #6 and sang “Lord,
Thou Hast Brought Us to This Place”. Mikal Shedd gave the opening prayer.
At 10:25 a.m. Mike Hale called the MMC Fall Conference to order and asked the
membership to look over the minutes from the April 16, 2011 Conference. Doug Albro
made motion to approve the minutes and John Studdard seconded. Vote taken and the
minutes were approved as written.
Mike thanked the conference and introduced Apostle Stassi Cramm who brought
greetings from the World Church. Stassi shared with the conferences some changes in
the Council of Twelve and the Presiding Bishopric and gave the conference
encouragement and challenges on our path of discipleship.
The floor was then turned back to Mike Hale and the following calls to priesthood
were presented to the conference:

The conference then turned to (Sing a New Song Hymnal # 12) “Here I Am
Lord”. Mike Hale welcomed the friends and family of those ordinands that had come in
support.
Mike called on Sue Phipps to share in the testimony of Elaine Bradford to the
office of Evangelist. Mike Hale read a letter from Elaine Bradford accepting her call to
Evangelist as Elaine could not be present at the conference due to a funeral. Wanetta
Baldwin and Mikal Shedd spoke in support of Elaine’s call. John Neal made a motion to
accept Elaine’s call to Evangelist. Gil Remington seconded. Vote called and motion
carried.
Sue Phipps shared her testimony of Betty Campbell’s call to the office of High
Priest. Betty shared her acceptance of this call. John Studdard, Doug Albro and Sally
Roth spoke in support of Betty’s call. Doug Albro made a motion to accept Betty’s call
to High Priest. Kathy Darling seconded. Vote called and motion carried.
Sue Phipps shared her testimony of Sharon Spaans’ call to the office of High
Priest. Sharon shared her acceptance of this call. Sara Lloyd, Marvin Schultz and Donna
Fletcher spoke in support of Sharon’s call. Stan Troeh made a motion to accept Sharon’s
call to High Priest. Rick Darling seconded. Vote called and motion carried.
Sue Phipps shared her testimony of Sara Tubbesing’s call to the office of High
Priest. Sara shared her acceptance of this call. Shane Adams, Jim Diddle, Mikal Shedd,
Mary Gill, Bill Baldwin and Cheryl Craft spoke in support of Sara’s call. Shane Adams
made a motion to accept Sara’s call to High Priest. Jim Diddle seconded. Vote called
and motion carried.
Sue Phipps shared her testimony of Bob Gauper’s call to the office of High Priest.
Mike Hale read a letter from Bob Gauper accepting his call to High Priest as Bob could
not be present at the conference due to a funeral. Stan Troeh spoke in support of Bob’s
call. Christina Paradine made a motion to accept Bob’s call to High Priest. Steve
Campbell seconded. Vote called and motion carried.
Sue Phipps shared her testimony of Greg Schieszer’s call to the office of High
Priest. Mike Hale read a letter from Greg Schieszer accepting his call to High Priest as
Greg could not be present. Lori Hansen spoke in support of Greg’s call. John Studdard
made a motion to accept Greg’s call to High Priest. Mikal Shedd seconded. Vote called
and motion passed.
Mike Hale then turned the floor over to Don McLaughlin to share in the
ordination charge. The conference joined in the singing of “Come Holy Spirit, Come” in
preparation of ordination. Sharon Spaans was ordained to the office of High Priest by
Bishop Sue Phipps and Apostle Stassi Cramm.
Mike Hale thanked the conference for their support and suspended the conference
for lunch.
MMC Conference reconvened at 1:10 p.m. when Mike proceeded to turn the chair
over to Apostle Stassi Cramm for her presentation on the USA National Conference to be
held in 2013. Following the presentation, a period of questions and answers were held.
Stassi Cramm then turned the floor back to Mike Hale and Mike called the
conference back in order and again turned the floor over to Apostle Cramm as she shared
a letter from the First Presidency recommending Mike Hale to be the Midlands Mission
Center President/Financial Officer. John Studdard moved in acceptance of the letter in
sustaining Mike Hale as Mission Center President/Financial Officer of Midlands. Stassi
called for a standing vote of support. Everyone stood in support of Mike. Stassi thanked
Mike for his leadership and turned the floor back over to Mike.
Mike presented a letter requesting that the conference sustain the following
persons to serve as counselors to the Midlands Mission Center President/Financial
Officer:
Stan Troeh – Bethel Congregation
Don Bice – Manhattan Congregation
Greg Stollsteimer – Mission Road Congregation
Mikal Shedd – Liberty Congregation
Helen Thomas made a motion to accept them as counselors.

Conference was then asked to turn their attention to the 2012 proposed Midlands
Mission Center Budget. Bill Baldwin made a motion to accept. John Studdard seconded.
Discussion followed. Vote taken and motion passed.
Conference was asked to review the 2012 proposed Central Avenue Center of
Hope budget. Virgil Goodin made a motion to accept. Mark Nelson seconded.
Discussion followed. Vote taken and motion passed.
Conference was asked to review the 2012 proposed Chihowa Retreat Center
budget. Jim Diddle made a motion to accept. Debbie Campbell seconded. Discussion
followed. Vote taken and motion passed.
Mike Hale then turned the chair over to Stan Troeh. Stan asked the conference to
accept the following nominations for new members to the Chihowa Retreat Center board:

Kyle Joyce made a motion to sustain. John Studdard seconded. Vote taken and
motion carried.
Stan Troeh asked the conference to accept the following nominations for new
board members to Central Avenue Center of Hope board:

Mark Nelson made a motion to sustain, Randy Cole seconded. Vote taken and
motion carried
Stan Troeh asked the conference to accept the following nominations for new
members to the HUD board:

Helen Thomas made a motion to sustain. Jim Diddle seconded. Vote taken and
motion passed.
Stan Troeh asked the conference to sustain the vote for the SHARE, Inc. board.
Karen Thomas made a motion to sustain. Clint Reine seconded. Vote taken and motion
passed.
Stan Troeh then turned the floor over to Mike Hale who invited Kerry Lukenbill
to address the conference on Central Avenue Center of Hope. A calendar was given to
all pastors in the Midlands Mission Center challenging them to help the center with at
least one fund raiser in 2012.
Mike Hale then returned to the floor and asked for a motion to adjourn. Greg
Stollsteimer made a motion for adjournment at 3:22 p.m. Many seconded. Vote taken
and motion passed.
Conference ended with a benediction given by Greg Stollsteimer.
