A hero is a person who plays an important role in your day to day life. The one, who motivates
you, encourages you, tells you what’s wrong and right and supports you in every aspect of life. A
hero can be anyone; it can be your parents, friends, relatives or anyone you know.
In my life I have come across people who have brought happiness to many hearts. Like the doctor I
know in Guwahati who from time to time treats the poor for free. There is a joint family who gives
donation to orphanages every month, and I am happy to live next to them.
Like these heroes, I too have spotted a hero who is neither popular nor rich but leads a simple,
happy and contented life. She runs an orphanage which is very popular in Guwahati. The
orphanage in which she runs was personally inaugurated by Mother Teresa. The orphanage which
she runs in a big one, she has two other nuns who help her in her profession. These three nuns run
an orphanage which not only takes children but old and unsupported people too. From the day I
was born my parents have been donating things to this orphanage, so I know them well. They take
care of around 500 children and about 300 old people. They don’t have a fixed salary too.
Whatever they get, they spend it on the orphans. She hardly sleeps at night or gets rest in the
afternoon, but she never stops her work. Once she told me that she got an offer from other Care
Centre’s to go and work out there and she would get well paid too, but she refused. When I asked
her why, she said that she doesn’t want to leave her family unsupported. She worked in the
orphanage for 30 successful years. Since she is getting old, she is in search for a person who can
take her place. A person who will think about others before thinking about her own.
This is a kind of person whom I call a hero; she not only helped them live but made their life worth
living, made them enjoy every single moment in life. Inspired by this, I will also try to do
something which could be appreciated by others.

A Hero is a person who motivates us and helps in our path of life and the path to glory. A hero is
one who encourages us and also tells us be brave and fight all difficulties in life. A Hero is a
person who is important to you. He is the one who gives you the moral courage and he is the one
in whose presence we feel the presence of someone very special and someone who is like a teacher
to us. In our lives we meet many persons who have done great contributions in various fields, but
only that one special person reaches our heart and gives us the sensation of a teacher in him. That
one person is and can only be your Hero.
My Hero is a Freedom Fighter. He lives in Nagaon, in Assam, India and thus, is a local hero for
me. He is not a very well known personality but a friend of my maternal grandfather, so I got to
meet and also know about him. He was born in the year 1921. He had a brief childhood mostly
spent in misery and in the slavery of the British. Who would know that the small boy would one
day be one of the many freedom fighters of India? But he proved his family and relatives and he
became a freedom fighter who played an important role in the leaderless Quit India Movement in
1942 when he was only 21 years of age. He fought for this nation’s freedom and survived all
miseries seeing many of his comrades die and being killed. His parents died when he was fighting
for the cause of the country showing true Indian spirit and proving that for him the nation comes
before his family. He devoted his life for the cause of the nation and I really salute the ones for
whom we are living such a wonderful life. I am also very proud that people like him are still there
with us whom we just cannot stop thanking. He is 89 years old now but as healthy as he can be and
still always ready with his calm and kind face to serve and protect the country, if required.
He inspires me to do feel for my country and try to make a difference as well as to know that
where there is a will, there is a way.
