BOULDER CREEK N E W S Principally Speaking Dear Parents: AIMS and SAT 10 will be the week of April 16th-19th. Please have your student at school on time, well rested, and with a good breakfast. Testing will begin at 8:45 and students arriving at school after this time will need to sit in the office until the testing session is finished. Please discuss the importance of these tests with your student. This data is utilized for a variety of purposes including developing intervention/enrichment opportunities for students. Thank you for your support as we enter this week. We are always concerned with student safety at Boulder Creek and would like to remind you about parent pick up signs. Please remember to display the sign with your child’s name as you drive through parent pick up. When signs are visible the process goes much quicker because teachers can call student names instead of waiting for you to pull forward and saying i.e. who has the black car? Other adults also pick up students with which the staff is unfamiliar so please request a sign for them as well. Sometimes regular staff are not available so a substitute fills in and don’t know the vehicles and children like regular staff. Thank you for your cooperation. Happy Spring, please watch for many upcoming exciting events like the Bulldog "Bone"anza on April 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sincerely, Karen K. Academic Night acknowledges and honors students in grades 4-6 who have achieved and maintained high academic standing during the first three quarters of the school year. The following are Academic Night guidelines: A student must have received no more than one “B” in all subject areas within the first three grading periods. All other grades must be “A’s”. Core subjects included are: Reading, Language, Math, Science/Health, and Social Studies. ALP students shall meet the same criteria as stated above, although ALP grades are weighted so that a “B” equals an “A” for Academic Night. To participate in Academic Night, students enrolling in a Gilbert School after school begins must enter from an accredited school, with grades that would qualify them for academic night the first grading period. Students entering after the second grading period will be considered for Academic Night the following year. 4th Grade Isaac Aguirre, Stephen Chi, Deana Corona, Kaitlin Feeney, Annalise Gallosa, Grant Hooper, Alexander Jones, Kristen Keller, Tyler Macdonald, Jessica Ory, Jennifer Pino, Delaney Starks, McKenna Todd and Torrie Trejo 5th Grade Wayman Avila, Laina Banks, Tyler Beeson, Courtney Brincks, Talley Brinkerhoff, Avery Brown, Kayla Brown, Grace Christensen, Miya Cole, Nicole Dawson, Sevahna Delmar, Noah Devine, Allyse Farnsworth, Kaylin Geary, Marshall Hammond, Zachery Herron, Erik Hibbing, Mattie Lamb, Brianna MacGregor, Brianna Miller, Danielle Nichols, Alyssa Parsons, Josh Pawlak, Sammie Peterson, Brooke Priest, Quincy Reece, Kay Sanchez, Jakob Schiefelbein, Cooper Schmidt, Bri Snowden, Aiden Stern, Ehtan Tanner, Alyssa Van Sciver, Raegan Watkins, Cameron Weinberg and Trevor Wyman 6th Grade Kathryn Bazzell, Lezea Brown, Darian Chang, Austin Christofolo, Micaela Coe, Ashlynn Dempsey, Adam Edgeworth, Brycen Fields, Hannah Frandrup, Olivia Hooper, Tayli Jensen, 8045 E PORTOBELLO AVE, MESA, AZ 85212 480-507-1404 Volume 12, Edition 8 April, 2012 Alyson Johnson, Olivia Kabat, Sara Kabat, Erika Keller, Jacob Kelly, Emily Landrey, Antonio Mendoza, Elanna Monk, Abby Montgomery, Samia Muraweh, Braiden Priest, Peyton Roush, Hailey Skiljan, AshLeigh Terry, Jewel Theriault, Jacob Trejo, Tracy Vu, Jaren Walsh and Drake Wilson BOULDER CREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Principal’s List 3rd QUARTER March 2012 4TH GRADE Isaac Aguirre Stephen Chi Deana Corona Frankie Eylicio Annalise Gallosa Grant Hooper Alexander Jones Vincente Jorgenson Kristen Keller Madison Kelley Alayna Landrey Tyler Macdonald Richard Martinez Olivia Monk Molly Montgomery Jessica Ory Jennifer Pino Jenna Robertson Daniel Rohla Averie Skaggs Hamreen Sooch Delaney Starks McKenna Todd Torrie Trejo 5th Grade Laina Banks Tyler Beeson Courtney Brincks Talley Brinkerhoff Avery Brown Kayla Brown Gustavo Casteneda Grace Christensen Miya Cole Madeline Cornell Nicole Dawson Sevahna Delmar Noah Devine Kaylin Geary Marshall Hammond Zachery Herron Erik Hibbing Dallin Johnson Mattie Lamb Brianna MacGregor Jazlyn Martinez Brianna Miller Laila Muraweh Danielle Nichols Alyssa Parsons Josh Pawlak Sammie Peterson Brooke Priest Zach Quintana 8045 E PORTOBELLO AVE, MESA, AZ 85212 Quincy Reece Kay Sanchez Cooper Schmidt Bri Snowden Aiden Stern Ethan Tanner Alyssa Van Sciver Cameron Weinberg Trevor Wyman 6TH GRADE Kathryn Bazzell Lezea Brown Eli Carr Darian Chang Austin Christofolo Micaela Coe Ashlynn Dempsey Brycen Fields Hannah Frandrup Olivia Hooper Tayli Jensen Alyson Johnson Olivia Kabat Sara Kabat Erika Keller Jacob Kelly Emily Landrey 480-507-1404 Volume 12, Edition 8 Caden Lindsell Antonio Mendoza Elanna Monk Abby Montgomery Samia Muraweh Brianna Murray April, 2012 Braiden Priest Makayla Tripp Hailey Skiljan Tracy Vu Peyton Roush Drake Wilson AshLeigh Terry Jewel Theriault Jacob Trejo BOULDER CREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Honor Roll 3rd QUARTER March 2012 4TH GRADE 5TH GRADE 6TH GRADE MacKenzie Allen Aaron Arambula Greg Barlow Adrian Castaneda Ernesto Ceja Jessica Cothren Jeidan Crew Bannon Delmar Aracely Diaz Kolton Duncan Koen Eubanks Elizabeth Fairbanks Kaitlin Feeney Jared Fiori Vincent Garibo Cheyenne Gates Caroline Hernandez Treagen Heslop McKenna Hughes Madeline Ingersoll Isaac Lagerholm Kayleece Myers Alex Neal Aide Ramos Lizeth Ramos Trevor Ranta Emma Ruthardt Trenton Terry Tiffany Vu Lorelei Wahl Jadyn Armstead Wayman Avila Garrett Baranek Hunter Beeson Alex Burhenn Luis Contreras Nick Dobben Amy Dobson Natalie Estrada Allyse Farnsworth Michael Fisher Isabel Flores Samantha Floyd Zach Garcia Oscar Guerrero Jacen Hagen Cameron Hernandez Cameron Hubbard Masen Jonson Jack Kelly Robert Khim Makayla Kirby Ryley Lindyn Brian Lipscomb Erin Mabry Alyssa McCormick Bailey Meuer Hailey Mink Loryn Moreno Coe Rutledge Jakob Schiefelbein Chase Schreiner Raegan Watkins John Wright Samantha Achey Giovanna Anzaldo Alex Blackburn Darion Bogan Way Leslie Bolanos Riannah Brown Levi Connely Konor Cordell Alea Davis Sara Davis Adam Edgeworth James Eyler Devin Eubanks Lexi Garr Noah Grant Alexa Hernandez Ashleigh Heslop Jared Lewis Erianna Ortiz Alex Plaizier Colten Postma Conner Postma Roberto Quintana Viviana Renteria Michael Rhein Nathan Rhodes Braden Rogers Matthew Skaates Kaylee Thompson Skylar Van Valkenburg Tya Walling Jaren Walsh Alex Yanez Chavez Audrey Yoder 8045 E PORTOBELLO AVE, MESA, AZ 85212 480-507-1404 Volume 12, Edition 8 April, 2012 A note from the Nurse’s Office Welcome to spring, a great time of year. The weather is warm and everything is blooming. We can enjoy the beautiful flowers and warm weather. Spring may also bring some unpleasant health issues in the form of allergies. Allergies by themselves may make student feel miserable but are not contagious. Most of the time student’s can come to school. It may be difficult to decide whether your child should stay home or go to school. Here are a few tips to help you decide. If your child has a fever of 101 or above or lesser and looking sick, keep them home. If they are sick enough to make a doctor’s appointment, they should probably stay home especially if you suspect something contagious like strep. Gilbert Public Schools has a policy that children should stay home for fevers over 101 and be fever free for 24 hrs without medication before coming back to school. The same applies to when a student is throwing up or having diarrhea. They would need to be symptom free for 24 hrs. Runny noses and coughs are a little tricky. There is no specific policy for runny noses unless there is a fever present. Teach your child to use a Kleenex to blow their nose and to cough into their sleeve. Also teach them to wash their hands after coughing or sneezing. Student should not attend school only if their cough is disruptive or constant. You may send in 1-2 cough drops with your child for their use only. If they are sharing, the cough drops may be taken. You may drop some cough drops off in the health office for your child as well. Encourage your children to drink plenty of fluids and get rest. This will help all get through the allergy season. As a reminder for those who have students with Asthma and use an inhaler, students are not allowed to carry their inhaler unless it is checked in with the health office and the proper paperwork is completed. It is recommended that if a student carries their inhaler, a back up one should be kept in the health office for those times when your child forgets to bring their inhaler. All inhalers need to be clearly marked with a prescription label at all times. In preparation for next school year, I want to remind 5th grade parents that there are immunization requirements for 6th grade. If your child is already 11 you should consider getting the required shots now and sending in a copy of the verified record to the health office. These shots are needed by the beginning of next school year. The shots required are the Tdap (Tetanus, Diptheria and Pertussis) booster and the Meningococcal vaccine. Notices will be going out in the next few weeks. If you have any questions, please feel free to call.
