LATIN AMERICAN AND CARIBBEAN CONSORTIUM OF ENGINEERING INSTITUTIONS
Scholarships for Latin American and Caribbean Engineering Students
Florida Atlantic University is a founding member of the Latin American and Caribbean Consortium of
Engineering Institutions, and has established scholarships for international students who are citizens of Latin
America and the Caribbean (excluding Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands). In order to qualify, students
must be fully admissible to FAU under existing criteria for graduate programs and meet other standards:







A minimum of 3.0/4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA).
GRE and TOEFL scores required by the program to which student is applying
Full time status is required (9 credits per semester for graduate students during the Fall
and Spring semesters. 6 credits in the Summer semester).
The applicant seeking a Master’s must be in the thesis option with the goal of continuing
to pursue a PhD.

The award is an established scholarship that is offered on the basis of existing policies and guidelines, and
the selection process is open and competitive. Details of the FAU-LACCEI scholarship are as follows:



The College commits to financial support for the duration of the student’s degree program, as long
as the student remains a full-time status and in good standing.
A LACCEI Scholarship of $750 per year ($250 paid per semester).
Student will be considered a Florida Resident for tuition purposes only, under the provisions of
Section 1009.21 (10) (e) of the Florida Statutes. In 2012, the reduction in tuition due to the
reclassification is US$654.12 per graduate credit x 24 credits equal to US$15,698.88. In 2012, the
Scholarship has a value of $250 per semester x 3 semester equal to US$750, plus the US$15,698.88
in tuition reduction, for a total annual value of $16,448.88.
