Highways Transport & Parking
It is a very good time to consider joining our team at Newham, with many exciting

We are at the forefront of regeneration in London with major projects throughout the
Borough. It is anticipated that there will be an inward investment of several billion
pounds over the next ten years, with the Highways Transport & Parking Division
being responsible for delivering a range of projects, including major capital schemes,
traffic and parking schemes and highway and street scene improvement schemes,
thereby transforming the local environment for our residents.
With flagship developments such as Stratford City and Canning Town Regeneration,
together with the Olympic Park and the 2012 Olympic Games, managing the highway
network to minimise disruption and congestion will be of major importance.
The Highways Transport & Parking Division will be closely involved in all these
activities. We need self-motivated and competent people to assist in helping us to
deliver our aims efficiently and effectively, whilst also meeting the needs of our

Leading a service that covers the full range of traffic services including environmental
management, traffic calming, parking controls, permanent traffic orders, casualty
reduction measures and road safety ETP, you will develop with Councillors and the
community, programmes that improve the quality of life for residents, businesses and
visitors to Newham from a variety of funding sources. Managing up to 20 staff
supported by consultants, you will have extensive experience of multi-faceted
projects, community engagement and programme development.

Salary on appointment is normally at the minimum of the grade.
Progression within the scale is by annual increments payable on 1 April
of each year. In order to qualify for an April increment employees must
have been in post for at least six months (i.e. appointed on or before 1
October).
