It is not a child's fault they wet at night, nor are they being lazy. ERIC - Education and Resources

Thriving Families works within a partnership structure across Hertfordshire supporting families with
multiple & complex needs to help them turn their lives around and achieve sustainable improvements.
To be eligible for support families must meet three of the core criteria set out in the Government's
Troubled Families agenda (worklessness, poor school attendance and anti-social behaviour) or meet
at least two of them and be identified by local intelligence as a family at risk of not thriving because
of the presence of additional priority needs. Most families that meet criteria will already have their
needs met effectively through CAF or other interventions. Practitioners are encouraged to sign such
families up to the TF Programme by completing a Thriving Families consent form. This will enable
them and the practitioners working with them to access additional specialist resources that are not
otherwise available. For families that require frequent and intensive support, referrals to TF can be
made through the usual referral route to Children's Services. Should practitioners wish to discuss
a potential referral or seek access to additional resources for families that have already completed a
Thriving Families consent form, please call the area team. Self-referrals and practitioner referrals
for families requiring intensive support can be made via the usual Children’s Services referral route.
Practitioners are encouraged to obtain Thriving Families consent forms from families who meet
criteria even if a referral to the team is not required www.hertsdirect.org July2013

Activity Information for Letchworth and Surround
Sports
It is important for parents, carers and schools to recognise that sports clubs may or may not be accredited.
Accreditation is given to clubs that recognise the following – first aid, insurance and child protection. Without
an accreditation, clubs may not be fully trained, insured and may not have criminal record checks for its staff.
While we offer information for all the clubs within our area, we recommend that carers find out more
information about clubs and whether they are accredited before using the service. The North Herts Schools
Sports Partnership is promoting a new scheme called the Herts Mark, which within the near future will target
and be awarded to satisfactory clubs following the above, but do not complete the work to be fully accredited.
Check accreditations on www.hertsssco.co.uk Follow; ‘North Herts’ and then ‘School club links’.
