Ages and Stages Newsletter Dear Parents October 2, 2015 Miss Nancy’s Group….Our book this week was Mouse Paint, We made a class book, pretended our fingers were mice feet and finger painted, and made yellow, blue, and green handprints. We started pegboard math and are beginning to learn our colors and numbers in Spanish. Our nursery rhyme was Humpty Dumpty. We built walls with wooden blocks and added plastic eggs. We are learning that Jesus wants us to share. Please look for opportunities for your child to share and praise them when they do! Please send in a picture of your child for a project that we are working on; pictures will be returned. Mrs. McCartney’s Group….This week’s number was “4”. We love taking turns writing the number, spelling the word “four”, and using tally marks and dots to represent “4”…We read Harold and the Purple Crayon and then created our own adventures with a purple crayon. Ask your child about the silly poem we learned about a purple cow! We know that red + blue = purple! We are counting to 25 each day, clapping when we get to numbers ending in zero…We even counted to 20 in Spanish! We are such smarties!! We are learning more about God as our creator and our friend and enjoy reading out of our prayer book each day!! Mrs. V’s Group …This week we mixed red and blue to make purple and practiced writing our names. We also practiced our rhyming at Center Time, along with our counting skills. We also read a new book, Spookly, Squarely Pumpkin. Next week our color will be orange. We are going to spend another week working on the rectangle. This shape, for many, is being confused with the square…very normal! Please help your child find an item with one/both of these attributes for Show and Tell on Wednesday. Library – We listened to The Very Quiet Cricket, colored a picture of a cricket, and even got a chance to see live crickets during library time!! Special Person Day in Ages and Stages will be Friday, October 30 as a part of our Halloween Party. The children may invite up to 2 people for this special time. We are planning a little program, along with activities, and snack. The children will be making individual pizzas for their lunch/snack time. There is a list posted, but we are in need of items to make the pizzas, as well as candy for treat bags, and goodies to share with our guests! Please continue to send in bottled water with your child! Thank you to all of those who have donated water to our class and our school during this time! Have a blessed weekend! We will see you on Monday!!
