Hi All I need helps and advices from you. Currently, I have a Cisco 3640 router with a PRI-1CE1B module installed (this module has DB15 socket). This module is connected to an E1 service (called On-Ramp-30 in Australia) using RJ48C-DB15 cable (the E1 service terminated in a RJ48 socket). I configured different “Dialler” interfaces for incoming or outgoing data connections using individual channels on the E1 services. This set-up works without any problem. Following are the configurations on the Cisco 3640 for your reference: ! controller E1 2/0 pri-group timeslots 1-10,16 description OnRamp-10 A0282683100K1001 for Test-Extranet ! interface Serial2/0:15 description OnRamp-10 A0282683100K1001 for Test-Extranet no ip address encapsulation ppp dialer pool-member 1 isdn switch-type primary-net5 isdn timer t321 0 ppp authentication chap ! ! interface Dialer2 description BRI link for remote user "nburwa50"-Commonwealth Bank bandwidth 64 ip address 10.49.237.6 255.255.255.0 ip nat outside encapsulation ppp delay 10000 dialer pool 1 dialer remote-name zzzzz dialer idle-timeout 300 dialer enable-timeout 5 dialer wait-for-carrier-time 15 dialer string 0297443899 dialer-group 1 no peer default ip address ppp authentication chap ppp chap hostname xxxxx ppp chap password yyyyy ! interface Dialer3 description BRI link for remote user Australia Post bandwidth 64 ip address xxxx ip access-group 3 in encapsulation ppp delay 10000 dialer pool 1 dialer remote-name xxxx dialer idle-timeout 300 dialer enable-timeout 5 dialer wait-for-carrier-time 15 dialer max-call 1 dialer-group 1 peer default ip address xxxxx ppp authentication chap ! awtisdn#sh controllers e1 E1 2/0 is up. This router has system image “c3845-advsecurityk9-mz.124-8.bin”. The “sh hardware” command indicates that the router recognises the VWIC2MFT-E1 module as “2 Channelized E1/PRI”: Cisco 3845 (revision 1.0) with 482304K/41984K bytes of memory. Processor board ID FHK0846F23U 4 FastEthernet interfaces 2 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces 43 Serial interfaces 1 ISDN Basic Rate interface 2 Channelized E1/PRI ports 1 Virtual Private Network (VPN) Module DRAM configuration is 64 bits wide with parity enabled. I have configured the VWIC-2MFT-E1 module to use the E1 service same as the PRI-1CE1B module on the Cisco 3640 router (the Cisco 3845 router doesn’t support the PRI-1CE1B module), and the IOS accepted the configuration without any errors. But when I connected the VWIC-2MFT-E1 module to the E1 service using RJ48C cable, it showed the associated serial interface was up but line protocol was down with line code violation errors. What have I done wrong? or could the VWIC-2MFT-E1 be configured for data channel groups? (Cisco information indicated it can be done) Any explanations, suggestions will be much appreciated.
