BCIS I Final Project Shoe Design and Sales Presentation Start date: May 13th, 2010 Projects will be due on May 27th, 2010 You will present this for your Final Exam Grade! You are a shoe designer and you have no limits to what you can design. You must create a prototype shoe. It can have items that have never been on a shoe before, rockets, lasers, bazooka’s, silly string squirters, lights, shoes that hover, whatever! Please use your imagination! Try to be the most unique shoe on the market! Your project must include: 1. Sketch and/or actual concept of shoe a. These must be done to the best of your ability! i. (Photoshop, paper and markers/ or a real shoe) 2. Microsoft Word write about your design a. This needs to be 3-4 paragraphs explaining your inspiration for your shoes, i. describe in extensive detail the functions/actions (why you chose certain colors, shapes, accessories, etc. ), ii. the price of your shoes iii. where you’re going to sell your shoes. 3. Create an Excel spreadsheet that includes: a. possible cities where they will be sold ( 3 different cities) b. what specific retailers will sell your shoes and how many they will stock (3 different retailers and quantities ordered) See attached spreadsheet c. Your Excel spreadsheet must include a border, color and Titles 4. Create a unique advertisement for your shoes in Photoshop or similar production tool 5. PowerPoint presentation a. 11- Slides which should include the following: i. Pricing ii. Target market (who your main buyers will be) iii. Excel spreadsheet from step 3 iv. Insert a table with information of your choosing v. 4 – pictures (not including shoe designs) vi. 1 - advertisement vii. 1 – hyperlinks viii. 1-chart or graph ix. Thumbnail sketches and final work DO NOT: 1.Do Not Write more than one sentence for each bullet point!! You should be speaking more than reading to the class. 2. Do Not use the same color text as your background, make sure your text is EASILY readable. 3. Do your OWN work!! Do Not use someone else’s idea’s or work, as this will result in a failing grade for this project. Timeline: Thursday, May 13th – Introduce project to classes. Students in groups of 2, no more. Concept and ideas of shoe design (Part 1) You should be in your planning stages on what your shoe will look like and what your shoe will include Friday, May 14th – Students concept design is finalized by the end of class.(Part 1) Students should begin working on Part 2. Monday, May 17th – Tuesday, May18th (17th Penn’s class not in lab) (18th Anderson’s class not in lab) Students should completing Part 2 and getting started on Part 3. Wednesday, May 19th – Friday, May 21st (19th Penn’s 1st, 2nd and 4th periods not in lab) (20th Anderson’s 7th period class not in lab) Students will begin and complete working on Part 4 by Friday. *By Friday, May 21st, Parts 1-4 should be complete. Monday, May 24th – Thursday, May 27th Part 5 should be completed by the end of class on Thursday. Friday, May 28th Students should be done with their presentation and are going to spend the remainder of the class practicing their speaking roles and polishing their sales presentation.
